It must come on record that despite widespread protests & repeated demand from Opposition to send #TransgenderBill to a #Parliament Committee, Govt insisted on pushing it through by making unsubstantiated claims! See video👇 First, it's rare that debate on one Bill is stopped to take up another Bill. The debate on #Finance Bill was going on and Transgender Bill was listed AFTER it, but Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju asked for the Transgender Bill to be taken up & 'passed' today and for Finance Minister to reply to debate on Finance Bill tomorrow. It is only when a Minister is not available to respond to debate on a Bill, that it is postponed, but Finance Minister is sitting right there! What is the rush to pass #TransBill in #LokSabha today itself? Second, as Rijiju seeks sense of the House, several MPs from the Opposition, in fact, oppose and categorically demand that Bill be sent to a Select Committee to consult with stakeholders from Trans community. They even say that they raised this demand in Business Advisory Committee meeting as well and Rijiju concedes to this. Rijiju himself says that Congress, SP, AITC and NCP(SP) made a request for Bill to be sent to Committee. And then Rijiju makes several unsubstantiated claims: 1. It's not a major amendment Bill - amendments to exclude self-identification are not major? 2. Extensive debate have already happened on Bill - When? The Bill was never placed in public domain as Pre-Legislative Consultation Policy 2014 mandates. Where has this debate happened? Who participated in it? 3. The amendment has come after a year long debate in Standing Committee - When? Which Committee? In the last 1 year, the Standing Committee on Social Justice & Empowerment has not produced any specific report on any topic related to #Transgender persons. Even the Statement of Objects & Reasons of the Bill doesn't mention any recommendation from a Standing Committee report. 4. We are not going against any community - why are people from trans community protesting the Bill then? So, if the Bill is very good, very important, for the welfare of people from Transgender community, then why is the Govt not willing to send the Bill to a Committee? Rijiju keeps saying - Bill has to be passed today, let's not delay. An MP can be heard in the background asking - "itni jaldi kya hai"? Indeed, why the rush? Why does Govt keep taking short cuts for law making and avoid public consultations?

@NAPiIndia writes to Chairperson FSSAI to raise its concerns about organising additional "stakeholder consultation" to discuss provisions of FSS (Labelling and Display) Regulations, 2020, of which Front of Warning labels are a part of . Having a SC order to go for warning labels, we raise two important concerns. 1. Why another stakeholder consultation. 2. Conflicts of interest embedded in this. In addition NAPi offers evidence and designs of warning labels. @RemaNagarajan @Mukesh_k @sayantanbera @KavitaDatt @chetanabelagere @SumiSukanya @ratnabhushanET @zubeda_h @AnonnaDutt @RujutaDiwekar @virsanghvi @ravishndtv @chetanecostani @BShajan @d_s_thakur @AnantBhan @PhilBakerNZ @CMonteiro_USP @MarkLawrence_Oz @GyorgyScrinis @SBarquera @DoctorChrisVT @TheLancet @PMOIndia @PMOIndia_RC @NITIAayog @PressCouncil_IN @MoHFW_INDIA @MoIB_Official @JPNadda @SwatiJaiHind @raghav_chadha @MPNaveenJindal @Tejasvi_Surya @thePHFI @RahulGandhi @beastoftraal @samajwadiparty @BJP4India @supriya_sule @KanimozhiDMK journals.lww.com/pmrr/fulltext/… More information : napiindia.in

The Modi government stands exposed once again. A scientist and climate activist who had dedicated his life to the nation was arrested without any evidence. The months he spent in jail were not only a personal loss for him but also a loss to the country. This sheer dictatorship must be called out and stopped immediately.

Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas #MoPNG
In light of current geopolitical disruptions to fuel supply and constraints on supply of LPG, Ministry has issued orders to oil refineries for higher LPG production and using such extra production for domestic LPG use. The ministry has prioritised domestic LPG supply to households and introduced 25 day inter- booking period to avoid hoarding/black marketing. Non domestic supplies from imported LPG is being prioritised to essential non domestic sectors such as Hospitals and Educational institutions. For LPG supply to other non-domestic sectors, a committee of three EDs of OMCs have been constituted to review the representations for LPG supply to restaurants/hotels/other industries. @HardeepSPuri @Secretary_MoPNG @IndianOilcl @BPCLimited @HPCL

Wild animals are not political gifts or corporate assets to be transferred at will. Leopards belong to their forests, their territories, and the ecosystems that shaped them, not to private enclosures built for spectacle. This is not even funny anymore.

What happens when digital networks fail? Vanthala Bhaskar and Jartha Matyakondababu discuss the intervention of S R Sankaran Adivasi Sahaya Kendram--- a people-centric offline system that supplements. In ASR district, offline distribution of PDS and low network connectivity renders rightholders incapable of accessing vital information regarding their entitlements. The Kendram draws information from key registers--- food-grain prices, ration cards, and entitlements of approximately 2,500 households in the area every month--- and disseminates in the form of WhatsApp messages and printed notices in community spaces. @sanjukta @tavleen_singh Are we celebrating the killing of one dictator jointly by two other dictators who have been responsible for killing millions of people by themselves and their regimes and as if the killing is going to make the life of women and children safe in #Iran #Khamenei

For once I and Tavleen mam are on the same side. There is a difference between killing an elected leader of a functioning democracy that did no harm to others and killing of an evil dictator who is responsible for the death of thousands upon thousands all over the world. The Iranian people themselves are cheering. We cannot look at this from this singular lens of "nation" "border" "sovereignty". We can look at it from a global human race perspective. He deserved to die.

Rajdeep may I say that you are very wrong. The death of an evil man who killed thousands of his own people and allowed women to be tortured and raped for showing their hair must be celebrated. Iranians are celebrating the death of a monster.
Rajdeep Sardesai@sardesairajdeep

To those ‘celebrating’ the killing of Ali Khamenei in this country on TV and social media, the idea of celebrating the killing of a foreign head of state is fraught — morally, diplomatically and strategically. A mature democracy can criticise regimes. It should be cautious about celebrating death. Not to forget 10,000 students live in Iran, lakhs of Indians across the Gulf. 🙏

1.5 months ago, after our campaign in which we exposed serious concerns regarding IAS officers and Jal Shakti Ministry awards, the official portal went offline. Now comes a massive development from Barmer. A local newspaper filed an RTI after our campaign seeking records of 91,000+ water tanks reportedly constructed under a public campaign. The same achievement cited for national level recognition. The district administration’s response: Records Not Available. Let this sink in. • 91,000+ structures claimed • Award granted at national level • Public money involved • But no district-level records? If there are no records: 👉On what basis were awards recommended? 👉What data was sent to the Jal Shakti Ministry? 👉Who authenticated the numbers? 👉Where are the GPS locations? 👉Where are the work orders and payment files? 👉Where are the completion certificates? Was the Ministry given verified ground data or just compiled figures on paper? National honours are not social media badges. They require documentation, audit trails and accountability. If records truly do not exist, this is not a clerical lapse. This is either gross administrative failure or deliberate misrepresentation. The administration must answer clearly: 👉Were 91,000 tanks actually built? 👉If yes, show the files. 👉If no, who is responsible for sending inflated data to Delhi? And if this newspaper report is false, then take strict action against the newspaper agency immediately. Either way — the truth must come out. 🙏

Tina Dabi’s sister, IAS Ria Dabi team uploaded a wedding invitation card on the Jal Shakti Ministry website as “proof of work completed” and still walked away with a ₹1 Crore Govt Award. Let that sink in. 📌 Wedding card shown as project evidence 📌 No real work on the ground 📌 No geo-tagged photos 📌 No third-party verification 📌 Yet official records marked the work as “completed” > This isn’t a clerical mistake. > Her team uploaded a wedding card as govt work and the system approved it, rewarded it and celebrated it. If a marriage invite can pass as infrastructure proof, then audits are fake, geo-tagging is a joke and awards are just paperwork with power backing. This is not governance. This is institutional corruption dressed up as excellence. 🙏
