No one is bulletproof against a state-sponsored attacker. But the gap between 'vulnerable' and 'defenseless' is enormous. Continuous monitoring. Automated policy enforcement. Threat detection that runs before the transaction lands. You need people whose full-time job is this. Build that team in-house, or work with one that already exists.
Haseeb >|<@hosseeb

Read this. Remember, Lazarus are professionals. They are an efficient state-backed organization that does this for a living. If you want to stand a chance, you must defend like it's your full-time job. Because for them, it is.

Personal story about the rsETH hack. DevCon Bangkok, 2025. while waiting for the famous session by Justin Drake i met Jeff from @axelar and we started chatting about my past experience on Linea. Always fan of their approach, the way axelar was managing the Linea nodes for validation and the pressure they were putting on the team to implement the 'finality flag' was impressive to me. Our tech team was like 'it's super difficult to implement this properly without trusting the sequencer, and we have other priorities on the prover and the constraints', but they were there pinging us every week almost. Many colleagues were like 'this is overengineered'. It was not. We started chatting about this, i share my compliments to the team because of their security first approach but we started talking about the differences between zk rollups and optimistic rollups. my point was that zk were superior because of fast finality (24hours at that time) vs optimistic and he kept pushing me on the fact that this was not true. @DeclanFox14 joined us on the chat and both of us were not able to convince him about the opposite. His arguments were super on point: if you have a reorg or a forged tx, we (axelar node operators) catch it because we run multiple L2 nodes, so we don't need to wait for the finality on the L1, we just look at the quorum of our own nodes and op stack can't reorg by nature. The paradox was that, in their eyes, the security model of optimistic rollup was exactly the same of zk rollups if not better (as not having the finality tag, bridge operations were delayed by 24/32 hrs or fully trusting the sequencer). both me and Declan were like 'hmmm we can only agree to disagree here'. Then the room's door opened and our short debate ended. looking at that convo now, this hack is a proof that me and Declan were totally right. thack would not have been possible if the DVN had waited for L1 finality, which is not viable for optimistic rollup because of the 7days challenge period. Today the landscape is evolved a lot: zkVMs, fast and cheap provers, mega blobs. You could have zk L2s finalizing every hour on L1s without issues, economically viable. There is no excuse to keep treating the same way optimistic rollup and zk rollup. This hack demonstrated that finality is still king. I think everyone should include finality in their risk assessments (with direct monetary consequences for TVL and yields) and optimistic rollups should become zk rollups or pay a big tax in term of UX (or TVL/yield). Of course, nobody is talking about this as there is no real incentive for L2 operators. Also, this will not fix the main crypto issue: there are no users anymore.

I had the chance to catch up with the @avantprotocol team yesterday, and man, there was a lot I didn't know: ⇒ Like most robust stablecoin protocols, they're using both @HypernativeLabs and @pagerduty ⇒ They're also using @trailofbits for OpSec auditing ⇒ They use @zeroshadow_io for threat response ⇒ They get access to above-market yields by providing sticky liquidity to teams like Ethena and Syrup ⇒ They DON'T use the usual yield passthrough mechanism, instead all of the yield from the unstaked avUSD goes into a reserve which acts as a super junior tranche that would take first losses before avUSDx ⇒ That reserve currently has ~1.3M in it (covering up to a 1% loss in NAV) ⇒ They've been profitable since month 2 (which is wild in DeFi) In short, they're actually doing way more for risk mitigation than I'd thought, and their strategies (which are still remarkably conservative on the USD side) are fully transparent. They are still in S1, and rumors are that they're targeting a mid Q2 TGE. While I absolutely cannot and would never guarantee the safety of a stablecoin protocol, I will say they appear to be one of the good ones, genuinely trying to maximize risk mitigation while squeezing the most yield out of conservative strategies. Very cool.

Millions were extracted from onchain ecosystem participants because of a single privileged minting key. The reason we haven’t just thrown up a vault to attract deposits is because we take risk management seriously. We independently underwrite protocol and smart contract risk and work with best-in-class partners where we want to leverage expertise. This is why we partnered with @HypernativeLabs for real-time threat detection from day one. Why our vault architecture will enforce collateral and depositor controls at the smart contract level. Institutional grade means the security stack is built before the first dollar of TVL, not after the postmortem. OpSec controls like key signing, key rotation, real-time monitoring, and qualified custody. These aren’t features. They’re table stakes @birchhill_io

Axelar will soon enable new yield sources for $XRP. Imagine capturing USD-denominated yield from Ethereum or Solana, which is used to buy more XRP and subsequently distributed as XRP-denominated yield to XRP holders. An XRP infinite money glitch! This opportunity will only be open to non-US holders. More to be announced very soon!

2013 -> learned about bitcoin in history of money+banking class in college 2014 -> start consulting job in SF. president of @coinbase comes to give talk at our weekly lunch and learn to group of five 21 yo associates. Gives us sign up code for Coinbase. Buy 1 BTC. Sell at 100% gain. Treated myself to few weeks of guac with my daily chipotle dinner. Feeling high on life 2014-2017 -> golden years of crypto in SF. Meet early teams building 0x, Augur, Litecoin. Energy was palpable 2017-> get pulled into ICO summer, big in supply chain coins. Began to question why I was working corporate job. Roundtrip entire bag 2019 -> read @compoundfinance whitepaper, get back in 2020 -> finish grad school. Join first job in crypto. Crazy experience, story for another time. Defi summer vibes insane, farming yams 2021 -> bought many NFTs. Still holding. It's not a loss if you never sell 2022 -> Join 2nd project, reaches ~top 60ish at peak 2025 -> on sabbatical. @ItsAlwaysZonny and @sinitias reach out. Wanting to feel something. Join @initia. Once again of the greatness of Singapore that we can go through the airport customs in less than 1 min. Compared to the routine 30 - 60mins wait to go through European customs.

Yesterday, $100M in value was bridged to the new XRPL chain, XRPL EVM. The assets bridged were from two major yield bearing stablecoins protocols, @MidasRWA and @falconfinance! All gas on XRPL EVM is paid in XRP, meaning growth of the network benefits XRP 🙌
Axelar Network@axelar

Axelar is the chosen interoperability solution for institutions bridging into XRPL. Cheers to $100M in daily cross-chain volume (and counting) 🎉

For ex i send XRP thru @axelar and part of it is used as a gas for the tx. And it seems that you use a price feed from somewhere to calc how much that XRP is in AXL. But hows that exactly being done?? I dont know an answer myself so im asking here 😅

Yo @DYOR_WAGMI @satoslim_X do you have an engineer from @axelar who can answer the qs from my session at @xrplapex? Basically the guy was asking what price feed it is using for converting any sent token to AXL. But Axelar docs doesn’t really answer this qs.
