@lthomasnews Sports assets are important to streamers because it reduces churn (people canceling). They just bought Warner Brothers and HBO. Paramount is trying to create a streaming giant that can rival Netflix. UFC is an important piece for them beyond sub adds.

The author of this article estimates UFC would need to add 23.4 million subs over 7 years to Paramount+ to clear $4.2 billion of the $7.7 billion deal. As for the remaining $3.5 billion needed to cover costs, he writes:

It’s the fair thing to do for players in Bergen County for which there are many. Everyone who supports the NJ operators deserves an opportunity to actually win and profit.

I reached out to my congressman @RepJoshG with a thoughtful explanation of the 90% sports deduction in the BBB and why it is problematic.
I get this canned reply back. Talk about not listening to your constituents. Will 100% be voting for your opponent in 2026.
