Today, accompanied by DG @nacosti Dr. Ngigi and DG @knrakenya Dr. Keter held productive discussions with @AFRAAfrica @IAEATC @iaea Project Counterparts. I commend the team for taking stock of progress and reaffirming Kenya’s active role across critical thematic areas that contribute directly to national development Kenya has made significant strides, but we must now shift from participation to impact. Timely reporting, strong institutional ownership, and clear documentation of outcomes are not optional—they define our credibility as a country. We must ensure that every project delivers measurable value, and that this value is visible both nationally and internationally. The need to better coordination and building synergies. Proposed Kenya Atomic Energy Agency will enhance that. I also emphasized the importance of maximizing opportunities available through the IAEA—particularly in capacity building and equipment support. These are strategic investments that can transform sectors such as health, agriculture, and industry. We must be deliberate, coordinated, and forward-looking in how we leverage them. As we look ahead, the Government’s plan to establish a research reactor at Konza marks a major milestone. This will not only strengthen research and training but also position Kenya for a future nuclear power programme. With this comes a greater responsibility to enhance safety, preparedness, and technical expertise @nuclearkenya Finally, I call upon all counterparts to step up as leaders—mentor others, build strong teams, and prepare for higher levels of engagement, including regional and global roles. Today, I had the honour to represent H. E. Dr. @MusaliaMudavadi Prime Cabinet Secretary, CS for foreign and diaspora affairs 🇰🇪 , to launch the National Science, Research & Innovation Synergy Blueprint. This milestone marks a defining moment in Kenya’s journey toward a more coordinated, well-governed, and impactful national innovation ecosystem. @aphrc @UKinKenya “For a nation of Kenya's ambition and potential, the stakes of this moment could not be clearer. We must not resign ourselves to being perpetual consumers of technologies conceived and developed elsewhere. The imperative before us is to build and consolidate a national innovation system that generates our own knowledge, develops our own technologies and translates scientific discovery into solutions that are rooted in — and responsive to — our own development priorities “This blueprint is Kenya's deliberate and structured response to that imperative. The Blueprint is a timely intervention that seeks to strengthen alignment across institutions, enhance sustainable financing, and accelerate the commercialization of research outputs. It reflects a shared national resolve to move beyond fragmented efforts and build a cohesive system that delivers tangible socio-economic value. It is a great honour and privilege to officiate @egertonunikenya 16th Biennial International Conference @NakuruCountyGov - a platform that brings together minds committed to shaping solutions for the challenges facing humanity today. Accompanied by my colleague PS @IdrisDokota During my speech, I highlighted - we are living in a time of profound global transformation - a time when the future of nations will be determined not by the size of their territory or the abundance of their natural resources, but by their capacity to generate knowledge, harness science, and translate innovation into prosperity. Today I had the honour of officiating the launch of #TrueBeamRadiotherapySystem at @AKUHNairobi - a major milestone in advancing cancer treatment in Kenya and the region. This state-of-the-art technology enables highly precise, image-guided radiation therapy, significantly improving treatment outcomes while protecting healthy tissue. Cancer remains one of the most pressing health challenges globally and in Kenya. Each year our country records about 42,000 new cancer cases and nearly 27,000 deaths, underscoring the urgent need to strengthen access to diagnosis and treatment. Investments in advanced technologies such as the TrueBeam system are critical in expanding life-saving care for patients. Modern cancer care increasingly relies on advances in #science, #nuclear #technology, #medicalimaging, and #artificialintelligence. Advanced radiotherapy technologies are transforming cancer treatment. Through CT-guided planning, respiratory motion management, and surface-guided radiotherapy, we are able to deliver highly precise treatment while protecting healthy tissues. By synchronizing radiation delivery with a patient’s breathing cycle and using real-time 3D surface imaging, treatment accuracy improves significantly. These innovations ensure safer, more targeted care for patients battling cancers affecting the lungs, liver, pancreas, and other organs. Artificial Intelligence is also enhancing radiotherapy planning by supporting clinicians in contouring organs and improving treatment consistency. When combined with advanced modalities such as VMAT, SBRT, and stereotactic radiosurgery, patients can now receive faster, more effective treatments with fewer side effects. @IAEATC @IAEANA A great example is prostate cancer treatment, where therapy that once required eight weeks can now be completed in just five sessions. These advancements are a major step toward delivering world-class cancer care in the region - #Gamechanger. I commend @AKUHNairobi for its leadership in medical innovation, clinical excellence, and training of health professionals. Privileged to officiate a fundraising event during the grant Iftar of Sheikh Khalifa Alumni Association (SKAA). Since its establishment in 1987 the school has produced around 10,000 Alumni working/operating at different places including out of the country. However we noted that only about 15% are active - encouraged other to join. During 2025 exams they registered 100% transition to University. A role model to the society. I encouraged a strong network of Alumni to contribute to social, economic and political initiatives and provide more support to the community and country at large.
