Professor Alfred Baird at the @UNGeneva warns of the withering of the Scottish nation under the unrelenting pressure of the coloniser and the urgency with which we must break free to preserve it. Prescient.
ScotNews@indyscotnews

"We've now entered the process where new parties are created, new mechanisms for seeking independence, a realisation that the matter is very urgent. What's important now in the case of liberation is providing the people with information. Independence is radical, liberation is radical. So the radicals are the only people that can lead this path to freedom, as Mandela would say. People are beginning to understand this, in the split between the vote for SNP and the vote for independence. So at least half the people have cottoned on, and they have to do something. Because at the end of the day, we're in phase three of the decolonization process. We either liberate or the people and nation perish. And the people and nation have been in the process of perishing for a very, very long time. So although we still have this national consciousness and elements of national identity and so on, and national identity is fundamental, it's under a lot of pressure. And the objective of the imperial power, is of course, is to eradicate, if it can, that identity and replace it with something else." Another mass slaughter of 245 pilot whales in the Faroes—an entire pod. I invite you to watch this piece presented by Ross McCall. It's moving, sincere and honest. The interview with this young woman will take your breath away. Over 6,000 whales have been killed since this was filmed, and despite all our campaigns, absolutely nothing has changed. Perhaps as long as the Faroese inhabit these Islands, it never will. youtube.com/watch?v=KgLABR…

From Canton to Calton: How the English Coloniser Waged a Drug War on Scotland as It Did on China with Opium to Steal Scottish Resources 1/ Scotland is enduring the most devastating drug epidemic in Europe. Since 2015, more than one thousand people have died every year from drug-related causes. In 2023, drug deaths climbed to 1,197. Police Scotland reported 1,065 suspected deaths in 2024. The highest figure was recorded in 2020, when the number reached 1,339. Although recent figures suggest a modest decline, the scale remains catastrophic. Per capita, Scotland’s drug death rate is over three times higher than England and Wales and more than fifteen times that of many European countries. Among developed nations, no comparable case exists. This is not simply a public health crisis. The devastation is concentrated in working-class areas that were once engines of industrial production. Glasgow, Dundee, Inverclyde, parts of Fife, and Ayrshire have become synonymous with grief and loss. The burden falls overwhelmingly on men aged thirty-five to fifty-four. Nearly all cases involve more than one substance. Heroin, methadone, street benzodiazepines such as etizolam, gabapentin, alcohol, and cocaine are often mixed. In 2023, benzodiazepine deaths more than doubled. Cocaine-related deaths rose to nearly five hundred. New synthetic opioids such as nitazenes and tranquilising agents like xylazine have begun to appear in coroners’ reports. Since 2017, over fifteen hundred babies have been born in Scotland with neonatal abstinence syndrome. These infants are not born to a nation recovering. They are born into a condition of prolonged abandonment. No explanation rooted in culture or individual behaviour can account for this. The causes are political and historical. Scotland’s current drug crisis is the result of decades of economic destruction, political disempowerment, and cultural erasure. The mechanism is modern. The logic is colonial. To understand the depth of this emergency, one must turn to the historical record. In 1839, the Qing Empire banned opium imports from British-controlled India. Opium was destroying Chinese society. British merchants refused to stop. The British state responded by declaring war. Gunboats shelled Chinese ports. The First Opium War ended in 1842 with the Treaty of Nanking. China was forced to legalise opium, open ports to British control, surrender territory including Hong Kong, and pay large financial indemnities. The British Crown and merchant class made immense profits while Chinese communities disintegrated. The Chinese experience of narcotic invasion provides a chilling precedent. Addiction was not an unfortunate consequence. It was the mechanism of subjugation. Sovereignty was broken not only through war but through chemical dependency. Entire generations were disabled while London’s wealth expanded. In the late 20th century, Scotland followed a similar path. The discovery of North Sea oil in the 1970s should have created the foundations for prosperity. By the early 1980s, annual oil revenues flowing to the British state exceeded £7 billion in direct tax receipts. In 1984–85, North Sea oil and gas revenues peaked at approximately £12 billion in nominal terms, accounting for around 6% of total UK government revenue. Adjusted for inflation, that figure is equivalent to over £40 billion today. When including total production value and associated revenues, the cumulative wealth extracted from Scottish waters now surpasses 2 trillion USD. @UN @UN_HRC @EU_Commission @Europarl_EN @eu_eeas @coe @EURightsAgency @francediplo @FranceintheUK @franceintheus @cgfEdimbourg @Elysee @GermanyDiplo @bundeskanzler @NorwayMFA @dfatirl @PresidentIRL @antonioguterres

Three nations 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Same lock. Same colonial capture. Same constitutional keys withheld. Wales is the longest continuously colonially occupied nation on earth. 742 years. No liberation. No consent. Ancient sovereignty of Cymry suppressed but never legitimately extinguished. Ireland would've claimed that horrendous record, but they forced the lock partially open in 1922, pushing the colonialist occupiers out and have steadily fought onwards towards 32 state reunification ever since with their Fénechus intact. Scotland, after 319 years of English colonial occupation, with the power of its sovereign people is the constitutional quay. When that quay turns, and the lock releases, the flood won't stop at borders, it won't stop at palaces, castles or corporate headquarters. It will only recede when England's continued Empire is no more. Liberation in one lock changes the pressure in them all. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #IndyWales #UnitedIreland #IndyScotland #SovereigntySeries #EmpireLedger x.com/EoinJMartainn/…

Unmasking the Manipulation of Scotland’s 2014 Referendum. The @UN through its decolonisation mechanisms will prevent such manipulation. The 2014 Scottish independence referendum has often been hailed by the English establishment as a triumph of democratic expression, a peaceful, decisive moment where the people of Scotland “chose” to remain in the 'United Kingdom'. Yet, this narrative collapses under even modest scrutiny. Behind the ceremonial surface of ballot boxes and televised debates lay a calculated system of structural manipulation: a media environment rigged by state broadcasters, an electoral franchise designed to dilute the Scottish voice, and a campaign of fear orchestrated at the highest levels of government and finance. What occurred was not an equal contest between competing futures, but a managed defeat, engineered to preserve Westminster’s colonial grip on Scotland under the guise of democratic legitimacy. Let's reopen the record to expose how the British state, through psychological warfare, economic coercion, and covert interference, ensured the survival of its shrinking Union by strangling the very principles it claimed to uphold.

@DickWinchester @DearIain @Record_Politics Aye….it’s absolute bollocks from the record as usual. Westminster are, and always have been, free to move their nuclear subs anywhere they like. The fact they remain in Scotland only means they don’t want them in England. And they can take their rotting hulks in rosyth too.

In Scotland we already have a right to this as we are, collectively, the Crown (sovereign). In Switzerland the elected representatives refer to the people as ‘the sovereign.’ That’s what direct democracy means.
James Melville 🚜@JamesMelville

Switzerland 🇨🇭 Direct democracy: The Swiss have citizen-based political decision-making by deciding government policies via referendums (4 times a year). A healthy model of democracy for the people, driven by the people. We urgently need this model in the UK.

How many more times do we have to see heartbreaking images like this? 💔 This photograph captures the brutal reality that horses face when forced to compete in events like the Grand National. Jump racing isn't "sport" — it's exploitation for entertainment and gambling profits. What we see as a "thrilling race," these animals experience as terrifying, high-risk situations that all too often end in serious injury or death. This beautiful creature didn’t sign up for this. 😢 It’s time to expose the truth behind the glamour and betting. Horses deserve better than to risk their lives for our amusement. Share this post to raise awareness. Let's demand an end to this cruel industry. #EndJumpRacing #AnimalWelfare #BanTheGrandNational #NotEntertainment
