Gent in yellow, "I'm an engineer, a scientist by background, and what I really care about is energy" "And that's one of these things which I feel has been turned into a culture war" "So let me say one thing" "We know that heat pumps, insulation, EVs, etc can save half your energy usage" "It's a massive difference" "And Iran, while, and this is not just about climate change, we can use as a strategic reserve" "We can use that oil for aviation or AI data centres" "But we've got politicians here on the table today, I believe, who deny these facts" "And why should we platform you when we can save that money? The energy. The money" "And this also means that we're not paying the oil money to Russia, which uses it to strike Ukraine every day, and we pay again for defence missiles" "So it's a very serious question. And this is the science, this is the fact. You cannot say that that does not save half the energy."

@TheGriftReport If I can find the legal bounds of their properties then the home owners can, and solicitors and surveyors certainly can. There's no way the home owners didn't know. The council can't do anything anyway as they have maintained the land way past the timeframe for adverse posession.

Homeowners face huge £14,000 bills after council accuses them of illegally trespassing on their own back gardens for 30 years Dozens of families on Doncaster Grove in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, have been told by Erewash Borough Council that a strip of land at the bottom of their gardens actually belongs to the council. The land was bought by the council for just £1 in 1995 but residents have used and maintained it as part of their gardens for decades, building patios, sheds and greenhouses. The council now demands they either buy the land back at up to £140 per square metre or pay nearly £70 a month in rent, or face it being seized. Furious homeowners say they had no idea when they bought their properties and that solicitors' searches failed to flag the issue.

Polanski now realises that he, like Icarus, has flown too close to the sun. Some of his more extreme policies have handed easy ammunition to both the tabloid and broadsheet press, as well as to his opponents on the left. Pulling back at this stage is a shrewd move, and a rare one in politics.

If the UK government ever went out of its way to prevent someone like Valentina Gomez crossing the Channel, or acted to detain her on arrival, it would effectively become a live case study. It would demonstrate something many people already suspect: that the state does have the capability to stop illegal crossings when it chooses to prioritise it.

I have no interest in tolerating cultures that wouldn’t afford us the same respect. If you’re a foreigner in our country and you treat women like dirt, hate the British way of life, can’t even speak our language, refuse to pay your way and make no effort to adapt to our society? A Restore Britain Government will deport you. You change your ways to fit us, not the other way around. If I lived in a Muslim country, I wouldn’t expect them to alter their culture to accommodate me. Of course not. So let’s stop bending over backwards to tolerate the intolerable. This is Britain. We do things our way. The British way. Proudly, unapologetically and without compromise.

I suspect people don't realise how extractive the triple lock is on pensions. The triple lock means the state pension goes up by whichever is highest of: 1. Average earnings growth 2. Inflation as measured by September CPI 3. 2.5% regardless of any other factors. Inflation is 3.8% and nominal earnings growth is 4.8%, but even if you were flatlining and your earnings didn't outpace inflation, the pensions would still rise.

i pray debt collectors call me last month one called about a $4,300 medical bill. i let him do his whole speech. then i said six words: "is this debt past the statute?" silence in 38 states, debt expires after 3-7 years. once it passes the statute of limitations, they cannot sue you for it. legally. the debt still exists on paper but they have zero enforcement power they're calling you hoping you don't know this. because the second you make a payment, even $1, the clock RESETS and they can sue you again for the full amount that's why they say "just pay $50 to show good faith." that $50 reactivates the entire debt. it's a trap and they know exactly what they're doing the play when a collector calls: step 1: say nothing about paying. say this: "please provide written validation of this debt under FDCPA Section 809" they are legally required to stop all collection activity until they send you written proof. most junk debt buyers can't produce it because they bought your debt in a bundle for 4 cents on the dollar and don't have the original paperwork step 2: check your state's statute of limitations at your state AG's website. if the debt is past the SOL, send this letter: "this debt is time-barred under [state] statute of limitations. any attempt to collect or sue is a violation of the FDCPA. cease all contact immediately" step 3: if it's on your credit report and it's past 7 years, dispute it. "this account exceeds the FCRA 7-year reporting period. remove immediately." bureaus must remove it within 30 days or face $1,000 per violation i helped someone wipe $23,000 in zombie debt in one afternoon. four letters. zero dollars paid the collectors who called her every week? gone. the accounts on her credit report dragging her score down 80+ points? deleted. she went from 588 to 691 in 45 days without paying a cent debt collectors buy your old debt for pennies and try to scare you into paying full price. their entire business model depends on you not knowing your rights now you know (link in bio. i delete debt and fix credit scores)

@davepiz41 @hxxntrr If the creditor really wants their money, they can enforce the debt before it expires. If they don't, then the debtor doesn't have to pay a penny and that's their own fault. Not paying debts you don't legally have to pay is common sense, unless you hate having money.

My first week in the UK, I went to a Tesco store to buy a few things. I picked toothpaste, body oil, lubricant and big mayonnaise. I got a bag and, after putting the items inside, the bag suddenly tore and the mayonnaise broke. The first thing that ran through my mind was: “Chai… so I will have to pay for another one again?” 😪😭 While I was still deep in my sapa thoughts, about 2–3 staff members rushed to me saying: “Oh my darling.” “You alright?” “Bless you, my lovely.” “Are you hurt?” “Do I need to ring 999?” “Do you need medical attention?” “Are you sure you’re okay?” I was so confused like… what exactly is going on here? At the same time, I felt like a spoiled toddler being over-pampered. Then one of the staff members rushed to the aisle and replaced everything I bought. I mean everything. Water first Comot for my eyes 😭😭 In those moments I remembered my dear country…. If you’ve never travelled outside Nigeria, you might not understand how much we are actually suffering in that ZOO. 😔 If you’ve had a similar experience abroad, kindly share it with us. What shocked you the most when you first travelled?

He's referring to Iran's retaliatory missile barrage toward Israel today (after US/Israel strikes on Iran). It was apparently meant to probe which Arab states would assist Israel by tracking/intercepting the incoming attacks via their air defenses. Multiple did—Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain reported shooting down Iranian missiles. So now Iran is also striking US bases and sites in those Gulf countries, forcing them to "pay the price" for aligning against Iran.

@MonkehPutler @HarryToe57 It makes complete sense for the US to allow certain strikes into gulf state bases that have no assets. They waste Iranian weapons and piss the gulf states off, which are currently not letting the US conduct offensive operations from them.

Thats a sat uplink, not, as many claim, a radar system. Reason: the dome is surrounded by buildings. If it was a radar, it would not be able to see towards the horizon, people in the building would get heavy doses of "trons". Hence the system under the dome radiates upward, to sattelite communications.

@LivingXmasTrees @philippilk The whole military doctrine of the US focuses on achieving air superiority and using it to strike where ever they want with near impunity. This was achieved by Israel on its own just a few months ago. When they achieve air superiority, it's over for Iran.

@philippilk You say 'Unless something changes,, it seems the two sides will launch missiles at each other until the US runs out of missiles'. After that the Iranians will continue firing missiles. The Iranians promised all-out war, and that is what they will deliver.

🚀🇺🇸🇮🇷 This might change as the smoke clears but so far it looks like Iran and Israel-US are evenly matched. The US is mainly firing Tomahawks which can clearly cut through Iranian air defences. I have not seen evidence of direct air strikes which means that Iranian air defence likely could shoot down planes. This might change but if not the US has around 600 Tomahawks which is enough for a week or two of strikes. Recall, if they fire them all that means their total inventory globally falls by over 10%. Iran has managed to launch continuos relatiatory strikes within an hour or so of getting hit. In the first day of the 12-day war it took them 12-18 hours to get strikes off. So they’re better prepared this time. The missiles are sailing through US air defence in all the Arab countries and hitting American bases. And now there are reports of a volley heading toward Israel. Unless something changes it seems the two sides will launch missiles at each other until the US runs out of missiles. Then both will be left to clean up the rubble. Trump is already preparing the country for casualties. To my mind he has not explained adequetly why these people will die. And if the whole thing just fizzles out when the US batteries run dry then its pretty hard to see how it will be justified.
