Right, if homeschooling is actually super high quality, then homeschooling families should not object to being evaluated, tested, and checked-in-on to make sure their kids are actually learning.

Look, pro-homeschooling people are piling on this guy but he's not wrong at all. I know of families who are straight-up failing to teach their children beyond a 2nd-grade education. Like 16-year-old kids who don't know what the Capital of the US is, have never heard of Toronto, and could not perform a basic algebra problem. While it's true that there are many excellent homeschooling families whose instruction far exceeds that of any public school, the fact is that the American system of "school your kids however you want" does also yield a lot of severely stunted kids who get stuck playing "catch-up" for the rest of their lives. My wife was homeschooled, we might homeschool, I'm not averse to the practice per se, but it's a fact that there's a whole world of multi-generational homeschoolers who are not and will not rise above a 2nd or 3rd grade education level by their own volition. Should the state intervene in these cases? I dunno, the answer to the question is not as "easy" as many make it out to be. The idea of barely getting through 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' at the age of 16 should be appalling, and it IS happening in some American homeschooler families.

And now take care of ppl and educate them for a living. Just because the govt offers an option does not make it the best option

@JimsTweets I was home schooled in two different states, neither of which required any input from the state. I followed a curriculum, took tests, and received grades. I took the ACT in high school and GED when I was done. Those were enough to get into university.

@8spider22 @bawerk_bomb You have to prove the district was based on race. If they can show that the district is based on political leanings that is legal. Then you have the issue of it will be those red state legislators drawing the new districts. This isn’t the great idea you think it is.

If you are open carrying a gun a say “I’m going to shoot you.” I am at risk. If you draw the gun then I am in serious risk. Only in the later case is lethal self defense justified.

Prevent means to stop before it happens. The woman doesn’t have to be currently at serious risk, just in danger of it. After that point prevention is too late.

The sad bit is homeschooled students usually beat their public school peers in standardized tests by huge margins

Homeschooling needs to be made illegal - full stop.
The only exception to such a law would be if you can PROVE your child is mentally or physically incapable of attending public school. In which case at home visits from a public educator would be permitted.

I find those here illegally opposed him more but since they can’t vote I’m not sure it will go the way you think. But again this is Texas not Fl. So I may be wrong.
