NAPOA conference is around the corner, please be sure to remind your friends, neighbors, co-workers, family members to purchase the tickets ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to build networking, knowledge, and experience. This will not happen in Chicago for another decade.

Words from this trip I took away: authentic, caring, interpersonal, healing, education, leadership, self-esteem, accomplishment, keep moving forward, keep supporting, consistency, dialogue, listening. The people I met are wonderful.

Cannot wait until Friday to see @ChicagoCred in person with @arneduncan as part of my grad program. Our interrupters and community mentors are so important and I am excited to see what works in our communities. Everyone deserves good.

@BenBradleyTV Here. Chicago is gorgeous and where I want to live. The pandemic did harm. But just after the fire, we will rise. It is just a wee bit harder than it was…and we will figure it out.

On April 22, 2024, at around 11:45 p.m., Detective Jones was on duty at the Baltimore Police Department's Headquarters when he heard a knock at the front entrance where he found an unfamiliar adult woman. Concerned, he asked how he could assist, and she replied that she wanted to go home. Detective Jones, noting her distress, asked her name. She identified herself as Jacqueline but couldn't recall her home address, stating she lived in Yonkers, N.Y. She was able to provide an incomplete phone number, causing the Detective to become more concerned. Running her name through a police database, Detective Jones discovered she was a missing autistic woman from Yonkers, who had been absent for two days. Seeking assistance, he called for Central District officers Balok and Trainee Yarko. Together, they assured Jacqueline of their commitment to reuniting her with her family. Officer Balok located Jacqueline's next of kin, reaching her older sister. Her sister's relief was evident as she rushed to Baltimore to pick up Jacqueline. Officer Trainee Yarko reminded Jacqueline that everything would be OK and that she was safe with them. As they waited, the officers comforted Jacqueline. BPD’s 911 dispatchers brought her food and EMS conducted a wellness check. Within hours, Jacqueline's family arrived and they were happily reunited. A superb job done by our members. Detective Jones’, Officer Balok’s and Officer Trainee Yarko’s professionalism, kindness and commitment to serving the community are truly commendable. We cannot thank them enough for going above and beyond to help reunite Jacqueline with her loved ones and ensuring her safety throughout the entire ordeal. They are a shining example of what it means to serve and protect, and their dedication to duty is an inspiration to us all. The BPD thanks them for their service.

Best thing in my career. Not sure why this happened to me…but this is our anniversary city for the 2016 cohort. Some of the best people I have met in policing. So thankful.
