@SenatorHick Are you ever honest, America and Colorado LAST Senator Hickenlooper? It sure doesn't seem like it. This is America. If it wasn't a government grift project, in 60 years we should have had a pipe running all the way across America and not an incomplete pipe to nowhere.

Every single Senator and every single House member voted for our Arkansas Valley Conduit bill. But then Trump vetoed it. Trump is leaving real people out to dry for his own political grievances and making our rural communities pay the price.

Despite President Trump's promises not to start any new wars, he has authorized military action against seven countries over the last year. Now, he has stationed 15,000 U.S. troops and an American armada off the Venezuelan coast with no clear plan. Congress must reassert our role and stop Trump's recklessness.

President Trump has declared war on Colorado. His latest act of retribution is vetoing a bipartisan bill — that passed unanimously — to provide 50,000 people in rural Colorado access to clean water. Unless Congress acts, no town, city or state in America will be safe from his political retaliation.

Five years ago, a deadly assault was waged on the U.S. Capitol, Congress, and our country. That day, I took down the flags in front of my office so that if the mob of insurrectionists came down the hallway, they might not know I was hiding inside.  The insurrection was an attack on democracy itself and the peaceful transfer of power. I remain grateful for the heroic officers who protected the Capitol. We remember the five police officers who lost their lives and honor the more than 140 who were injured as they defended our democracy.

Five years ago, I sheltered in the Capitol, praying the lock on my door would hold.   Alarms blared. Rioters screamed, "Kill the infidels."   I held my breath, not just because I was in danger, but because our democracy was. Democracy held, and I do still believe we can keep it.
