I’m fully aware that this job requires tons of travel and crazy hours, but it does indeed bug me that I’m here in DC at 11:30pm voting (for the 4th time!) to fully fund the Homeland budget and missing my kids hoops game tomorrow morning back in Washington because the Senate pulled their BS stunt last night. 🇺🇸

I want to thank @POTUS for his leadership in finding a way to pay our TSA officers to end this chaos at our airports. These hours long lines and thousands of Americans missing their flights was caused solely by the Democrats reckless @DHSgov shutdown.
Many of DHS’ frontline workers are still not being paid including @FEMA, @USCG, and @CISAgov.
The Democrats must stop playing political games with our national security, quit punishing our employees, and re-open DHS.

The banks are on board, the crypto industry is on board, the White House is on board, and President Trump wants the bill on his desk this spring. The only thing standing in the way of the CLARITY Act right now is Coinbase, because they care more about what’s good for Coinbase than what’s good for the crypto industry. One company should not be able to hold up legislation this important.

The industry went back, renegotiated, found a compromise everyone could live with … Everyone except Coinbase.
At some point you have to ask: Is this about policy, or is this about profit?

Credit to @SenThomTillis and @Sen_Alsobrooks for bridging the partisan divide to tackle a difficult issue. More work to be done to close out this and other outstanding issues, but this is a major milestone toward passing the CLARITY Act.

If the CLARITY Act doesn’t reach the Senate floor by May, it’s probably dead until after the midterms. Coinbase knows that, and they’re stalling anyway because the compromise doesn’t work for them specifically. That’s not leadership, that’s putting one company’s interests ahead of the entire crypto industry, and everyone else is paying the price for it.

At JFK Airport, as travelers waited in hours-long lines, an infant became unresponsive and stopped breathing. The panic of the child’s family and nearby passengers were heard by an ICE agent stationed at a checkpoint.

This is the second time @brian_armstrong has torpedoed the CLARITY Act over the exact same issue. Most other crypto players want the Clarity Act to move forward.
He killed the Senate Banking Committee markup in January and now he’s doing it again. At some point the rest of the industry has to ask whether Coinbase actually wants crypto regulation or is only looking out for itself.
