@c_pic@AndrewRomano Your little kids are protected. Compare the 126 total covid deaths to other causes in ages 1-4. Your toddlers have a great chance of dying from a cheerio than covid. data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provision…
It’s possible for a one-way N95 masker to be even safer in a space where nobody else is masking than a bunch of people wearing a mixture of lesser masks in a space where they’re frequently removing them to snack & sip.
Or, Why I Just Ordered More KF94s:

The recent court ruling has given travelers the option to choose whether or not to wear masks on flights, buses, and trains. Having been on a plane myself yesterday—and recognizing cases are on the rise in many states—here is why I will continue to wear a mask when I travel. 1/6
@lacreshahall@LisaAFahy@ASlavitt Ask your local daycare provider if they have less viruses circulating. Hand foot mouth spread like wildfire when they introduced the masks in a lot of daycare settings.
@LisaAFahy@TBenson54@ASlavitt Wearing a mask is not a loss of freedom. This is an extremely privileged position because there are people who experience legitimate loss of freedom. Additionally most mandates no longer exist. So people not getting sick is still a good thing regardless of your position.
If airlines can ask us not to eat peanuts on board if there is someone with a peanut allergy, why won’t they ask us to wear a mask if there’s an unvaccinated 4 year old or cancer patient on board?
NEWS: A Trump judge invalidated the Biden Administration’s mask mandate for travel.
I will be on @cnn discussing this in the 9pm Eastern hour. And will add a thread here shortly.
@jeremyfaust@united A question… 🙋🏼♀️
Can you please point me to your pre-COVID shaming of Americans for flying without masks during RSV season?
Surely we both know that RSV causes greater infant fatality.
I’d hate for people to think you are alarmist about COVID only.

The odd thing about my being disappointed in @united dropping its mask mandate is how many people who claim to love kids are totally cool with this meaning that a small number of babies will die of Covid, when we’re weeks away from a vaccinate for all ages over 6 months.
@jedwardblustein@KimberlyPosors1@Ray_J__@PeterHotez Have they done a study on unmasking while eating and drinking on a plane and then slapping the mask back on? Do viruses magically go away when the n95 is lowered to take a bite?
@KimberlyPosors1@Ray_J__@PeterHotez Hey Kim, I am a scientist. Not a medical doctor. And I read the literature all the time from journals. We will not agree. Thanks.
I am pleased that there is widespread and bipartisan support in Virginia for a parental opt-out of mask mandates in schools. Today, the General Assembly took a significant step for parents and children.
@Carrie6191@JulieCareyNBC@nbcwashington Best to keep the kids home all year. Simply driving on the highway with a kid in the car presents a higher risk than COVID. Keep our kids home!
New Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin wastes no time signing 11 executive orders & actions including lifting the mask mandate for Virginia schools, ending the vaccine mandate for state employees & ending the use of Critical Race Theory in schools (it is not taught). @nbcwashington
@reader_jean@eledyard@prisonculture No doubt. So much harder. In areas where it’s cold but not dangerously so, I would favor bundling students up & getting outdoors to eat. Where it’s not possible, get all elig boosted ASAP, try to do best possible with ventilation/filtration, & encourage masks up btwn bites.
In case no one has told you, the odds your kids will be at school in person in 2-3 wks in the US approach zero in most areas, no matter what your BOE or Governor decide about opening. There won’t be enough people well to run buses, lunches, clean, or teach. Plan now as a family.
@DocPreston@GavinNewsom Im with both of you.Your son could benefit with special masks that are transparent-they have been making them for deaf people from the beginning-So get a pack and bring it to all the people your kid has contact. As for ditching masks,no way.Too many kids are at risk
@AsaHutchinson@ADHPIO My God, what are you waiting for? We need a statewide mask mandate that is enforced in all public spaces, regardless of vaccination status, delay start of school until the end of September and put a stop to concerts and festivals.
Today’s report shows some very startling numbers. We saw the largest single-day increase in hospitalizations and have eclipsed our previous high of COVID hospitalizations. There are currently only eight ICU beds available in the state. Vaccinations reduce hospitalizations.
