@CabbiesMate It’s not about a founder holding control — it’s about preventing the platform being sold out from under the trade.
The structure is there to protect that position long term, not override it.
Without that protection, we’ve already seen how it ends.
English

@Taxi__Now If the founder can block a sale, then shareholders don’t have real control.
Even if 95% vote to sell, it means nothing without founder approval, so calling it “driver-owned” or “shareholder-controlled” is misleading.
English

We didn’t do the Knowledge to work for an app.
We did it to be our own boss.
Now look at what’s happening.
Lyft acquires FreeNow
And is now moving to acquire the UK business of Gett
This is how control is taken:
👉 Own the platform
👉 Own the customer
👉 Control the work
@Taxi__Now has been built differently — structurally.
Not just words. Not just branding.
Actual protections put in place:
✔ 0% commission — written into the Articles
✔ Drivers keep 100% of fares, tips & cancellations
✔ No surge pricing model
✔ Revenue via fixed booking fees, advertising & services
✔ Driver participation through a structured trust
✔ Sale restrictions requiring Founder approval + 95% shareholder agreement
This isn’t about hype.
It’s about making sure the trade can’t be easily sold out or flipped by outside interests.
London taxis already built the standard.
The Knowledge.
The service.
The reputation.
Taxi Now is about protecting it properly this time.
Because if we don’t back something we own…
We’ll always end up working for something we don’t.

Fair question — and it’s exactly why most platforms end up where they do.
Funding tends to dictate control.
The approach here is to build it so it sustains itself over time, without handing that control away — even if that means building slower and properly.
Structure first. Everything else follows.
English

That sounds reasonable, but it raises a fundamental question: where will the funding come from to support a professional business structure? This includes hiring management, building a sales and digital marketing team, maintaining an engineering function, and covering support and administrative staff.
In addition, substantial capital is required for effective advertising campaigns. Without a clear and sustainable revenue stream, it is difficult to see how these essential elements can be financed.
English

The London taxi trade has built and grown many platforms over the last 10–15 years — but the benefit never stayed within the trade.
That’s why this keeps happening.
Taxi Now is being built differently — structured from the outset, through its Articles of Association, to stay within the trade:
• No commission
• No private hire
• Driver stake & voting rights
• Structural protections written in
Not based on promises. Written into the structure.
Trade first. Everything else follows.

English

@DebessCab @biLLey1998 This is exactly why it’s being talked about again now.
The trade has backed platforms before — but without the right structure in place, it never stays with the trade long term.
That’s the part that’s now being focused on.
English

@seanpaulday Trade-led” only works when the structure is actually in place for the trade to benefit.
Without that, it’s just a slogan — and we’ve all seen how that ends.
English

Well, well, well… No one saw that coming, huh!

To the London Taxi Trade
Over the past 10–15 years, platforms have entered the trade, grown through driver support, and then followed a similar path. The trade has built every platform that’s come into this industry.
And every time, the same thing happens — it grows, it shifts, and the trade is left without a stake in what it helped create.
That’s not a coincidence — it’s a structural issue. And it only changes when the structure changes.
The world’s most recognised taxi trade still does not have a structure of its own.
Taxi Now is being built with that in mind from the outset — not as a campaign, and not as a slogan, but as a platform where the structure itself is designed to hold its position long term.
---
Articles of Association
• No private hire — permanently written into the company structure
• No commission — no percentage taken from the fare, no deductions, and no reduction of driver earnings through any system or payment method
• 95% driver voting threshold for any fundamental change
• Structural provisions preventing the platform from being sold away from the trade
• Defined driver stake and voting rights within the company
• No external control over how the platform operates or develops
---
Platform Design
• Geo-fencing aligned with licensed areas
• Respect for badge boundaries and operating zones
• No system that overrides or bypasses licensing structure
---
This is not a pricing model. It is a structural position.
It does not rely on trust, promises, or future decisions — it is written into how the company is formed. There are no restrictions on who can use the platform, and no dependency on outside interests.
It will take time to build properly. If the trade is going to build something again, it has to be built in a way that holds its position — not something that changes once it reaches scale.
That is the difference.

Too many are failing the trade.
We’ve now got a situation where a card processing system in a licensed London taxi is being used to push Uber work into the cab.
Think about that properly.
We’ve spent years building a world-class, regulated service — and now we’re allowing outside platforms to plug directly into our own equipment and infrastructure.
That’s not innovation. That’s dilution.
Every time we hand over control — whether it’s bookings, payments, or customer relationships — we weaken our own position.
It’s the same pattern every time:
Drivers build the value → external platforms integrate → control shifts → trade loses ground.
At some point, we have to ask:
Are we actually protecting the trade… or slowly giving it away?
