Here's my theory on Tesla SUV strategy in the USA: >discontinue X due to lagging sales and long in the tooth- no longer needed >don't release Y-L yet because you need to clear the X inventory and that would crush the remaining X demand >have a big 3rd row SUV in the works on the Cybertruck platform (I'm calling it the Cyburban from here forward) to replace the X as the flagship large SUV, but don't announce it too soon as that would hurt demand for the Cybertruck and the X, both of which are suffering already >run a sale on new cheaper Cybertruck temporarily to keep the CT tooling and investments working while you bridge the gap to the Cyburban which will be made on the same production lines when it's ready >announce the Y-L coming to the USA first and make a zillion dollars on it first since Y's are already in mass production and this takes minimal changes to pump out and USA consumers will pay more for it = pure profit >announce Cyburban next and roll out the premium trims to early adopters like they did cybertruck and sell as many as you can for the highest price >release lower trim levels of Cyburban next, and the success of the Cyburban extends the the Cybertruck in the lineup several more years as well since they share so much compatibility Now mainstream American families have everything they want from Tesla for their personal vehicles: - affordable smaller cars - a great mid-sized 2 or 3 row SUV - a true full size 3rd row SUV - a pickup BAM 💥 I hope I'm right.

Not so crazy prediction: 25 years from now, humans will be monstrously less safe than autonomous cars. What will happen? Driving tests will become more rigorous.

Tesla software feature request- Instead of just destinations for FSD, would be cool to add a named route. Helpful for common routes but also getting to very specific spots on the way home like the proper entrance lane going into a parking lot, through a certain gate or up a particular turn on a driveway. Like an aircraft flight plan 🙏 @wholemars @teslaownersSV @cybertruck @cybrtrkguy @Kristennetten @Gfilche

Just drove a Cybertruck, I am not sure I am ready for that yet - you have to re-think everything about a truck. FSD was cool, but I have control issues. I am just not there yet mentally

I reached out again and am waiting for another reply. Will update when I hear back. Hopefully our glorious leader chimes in. This seems like an easy one to fix and make right. Click a few buttons on the drop down menu and make the orders before the policy change eligible to transfer and let’s move forward with monitoring all the other situations on this great platform.

@TheTeslaLife I got word from my Tesla sales advisor this morning that orders from before the policy change will be able to transfer FSD even into 2027. They double checked this morning. Hopefully that is true but they looked into it. @wholemars @teslaownersSV @Kristennetten

Confirmed from Sawyer: The $59k Dual Motor Cybertruck is NOT ELIGIBLE for FSD transfer. At all. No transfer will be allowed. @Tesla you need to fix this. This is not right.
Sawyer Merritt@SawyerMerritt

UPDATE: Last night, Tesla changed its FSD transfer policy (pic on left). You now have to take delivery by March 31, 2026 to be eligible. For people who placed an order before this policy change, including Cybertruck dual-motor AWD order holders: • If your delivery window is on or before March 31, 2026, or it gets pushed into April due to a delay caused by Tesla, the company will still honor FSD transfer. • Tesla will NOT honor FSD transfer if the initial delivery window was after March 31, 2026 when the order was placed. • If your order window is beyond March 31, 2026 or you end up not being able to take delivery by March 31, 2026, Tesla will offer you a refund of your $250 order fee. Before, Tesla's website said: "customers who place an order for a new Tesla vehicle by March 31, 2026 may qualify for transferring FSD (Supervised)." Not anymore. While Tesla always said directly on their FSD transfer website page that the "FSD transfer program is subject to change or end at any time," I’d still like to see Tesla give all $60k Cybertruck AWD orders made before last night’s policy change the option for FSD transfer at time of delivery. Many people placed an order because they thought they would be able to transfer FSD. I’ve deleted the post I made a couple days ago (pic on right) about Cybertruck AWD FSD transfers to avoid anyone seeing that post, but not this update, and mistakenly placing an order. While I did link to the terms page in the thread, I should have added in my first post Tesla’s exact disclaimer wording from the FSD transfer page: “The FSD (Supervised) Transfer Program is subject to change or end at any time." I’m really bummed out for the people who already ordered the $60k Cybertruck and wanted to transfer FSD, even though Tesla is offering order fee refunds. Keep in mind, Tesla can always decide to change the terms on this stuff at any time. People can reach out to any Tesla sales advisor with any questions. They will confirm this info. Yeah, this sucks. Seen plenty of policy changes over the last 12 years. This retroactive move probably the worst. Most changes are just no-notice price and policy changes but haven’t seen a retroactive change like this. Still an opportunity to make it right and issue clear guidance.

I don’t want to do this, I don’t want to call out the Tesla community. But I’m hopping mad. Tesla rug pulling FSD transfer from everyone that just ordered the new Cybertruck is one of the lowest moves I’ve ever seen. I just paid an extra $2000 to upgrade my enhanced autopilot to FSD so that I can transfer it. Now magically I’m told that it can’t transfer to the Cybertruck based on the eventual delivery date? This does not feel like the Tesla I know. I’m not sure how I could possibly advocate more for a company for the last 10 years to be blindsided by such a clear FU decision against its biggest fans and investors. If I’m overreacting, I sure don’t understand how. I’m pissed. @teslaownersSV 1.38M @SawyerMerritt 1.02M @teslarati 924K @WholeMars 712K @heydave7 603K @garyblack00 553K @Teslaconomics 462K @stevenmarkryan 413K @Farzyness 365K @teslapodcast 355K @ICannot_Enough 277K @Jasondebolt 252K @divestech 232K @TeslaBoomerMama 219K @TroyTeslike 190K @tesmanian_com 182K @Gfilche 178K @DirtyTesLa 140K @ray4tesla 139K @WR4NYGov 104K

@cnlinkcnlink @Cyber_Trailer Changes to the agreement in good faith are fine when changes impact orders from a point in time forward. Changes that go against the terms of service retroactively are not good. My hope is they say orders after Feb 28th need to take delivery before March 31st to transfer.

@cybertruck Can we please get an update to be able to turn on the bed lights while driving to see if loads are shifting around at night or with the tonneau closed? Lights disabled while in drive. Seems like an easy OTA fix.

@Karanx_ The issue can be solved with $5 of materials at the factory. Plastic tubing and a spray nozzle. Aftermarket option appears to be great but CT needs to come with a rear camera sprayer off the line.

The Cybertruck was designed and built by and for folks in warm environments first. You can tell that not one of the design team who works on it has lived in a place where they regularly receive salt and snow. They tested the CT in cold conditions, and showed it off in the snow. But they didn't actually drive it around a northern city for a few hours. It takes ~15 minutes for my rear camera to become unusable when its a slushy mess outside. Yes, they're brilliant engineers, but they don't live with the problems, so they don't actually experience them first hand. I have to constantly clean the cameras on the Cybertruck, and constantly wipe down the windshield due to salt not getting cleared off properly by the wiper. This is my #1 issue with the Cybertruck - #2 being range when towing.

@TesCalendar1 @denverbitcoin Towing with an EV is the best thing ever as @TesCalendar1 is saying. Also, putting a boat in the water with the Cybertruck with 4 wheel steering is one of the great joys in life. So easy with the steer-by-wire, rear steering and all the cameras on a huge display.

Imagine if Tesla for serous about selling Cybertrucks and dropped an amazing refresh. 500 miles of range, 6th seat option, more conventional looks, monster charge curve, front charge port for better access while towing, strip some of the frills like 4 wheel steer that are nice but expensive and don’t actually move the needle. $69,999 Make a truck that can be the true hardcore smackdown on ICE trucks. I’d be the first in line to buy one. A man can dream 😔

You could design an airplane with 50% of the parts of a current plane. Overly complex systems that need a fresh look. Along the lines of what Otto Aerospace is doing. Could trim weight and simplify like Raptor 3. Cheaper, safer, lighter, better.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

@TrungTPhan I came to the (obvious) conclusion that a radical improvement in rocket technology was needed to make life multiplanetary. That required creating a company, as success was not in the set of possible outcomes for the existing rocket companies.
