Ishta Devata, Argala, and Karma Pasha: Why This Path is not Open for Everyone Why the amusing jyotisa theories of ishtadevta have zero significance in real life. For those seeking their Ishta Devata and similar concepts, one must first understand this clearly: it is not necessary that everyone has an Ishta Devata. The very idea of an Ishta Devata is not casual as is written by many jyotish without any base. It requires a person to be genuinely spiritual, not just curious or experimenting. And even in such cases, argala, especially those rooted in kutumba (family patterns, lineage influences) can prevent a person from actually taking up or continuing Ishta Devata upasana. What people fail to understand today is this restless running around trying to “find” their Ishta Devata through charts, or blindly following half-baked, sometimes even amusing instructions has little real value. Even through prashna, if argala exists, it will not simply disappear. You may come to “know” the Ishta Devata, but that does not mean the path to pooja or connection will open. In our darshan, karma holds the highest place for a reason. It governs what unfolds, what becomes accessible, and what remains out of reach. Not everything can be forced into place just because one desires. So everyone has to first work for removing the karma pasha, not running for shortcuts through such methods.

Not in 1985. Today. Children born in 2020 with bodies twisted by a war their grandparents fought. And the chemical companies that made it are still in business. Still profitable. Still un-prosecuted. And yet they send us human rights reports. They grade our democracy. They warn us about our behavior. The audacity is so enormous it becomes almost impressive. Almost.

The Iranian ship will not be where it was if we had not invited it to talk part in our Milan exercise. We were the hosts.
