You can be a communist or you can be a patriot. You cannot be both. If you know... it shows.

They are trying to bargain with us now. They are making the argument that Flock is ok if we "demand transparency in surveillance". NO! We DEMAND that the cameras don't exist at all. We DEMAND that the cameras come down. Nothing less is acceptable.

@aryehazan "fast forward to 2019: now *that* Gillette commercial was both of those things" No it isn't. It is a snapshot in time of when this was a high trust society, unlike today.

whatever its merits or demerits, this commercial was not intentionally designed as political propaganda, nor as a boot to stomp on the face of the humiliated and subjugated it was just reflecting what broad consensus saw as good and wholesome—and tbf I can’t find anything substantial to fault in that conception fast forward to 2019: now *that* Gillette commercial was both of those things
Southern Accents@AccentsSouthern

Right wing propaganda… but it’s literally just a random commercial from the 80’s.

@texaseattle @glangley @Flock_Safety The "safety" argument exists because we import third worlders and pretend low IQ people are functional thus destroying our once high-trust society. Deport the third worlders, remove career criminals from society and restore the nuclear family... we will all be much safer.

Hey @glangley — I was the head of design for connected devices at Axon when we did the deal with @Flock_Safety. What you may not know is that our CEO, Rick Smith had met with Vigilant, the ALPR leader at the time. During the demo, their team pulled up a random Axon employee’s car from the parking lot and showed the Axon leadership everywhere that car had been. I wasn’t in the meeting, but I’m told Rick immediately kicked them out of the Scottsdale office. You can make a good case for officers (hell, even politicians) wearing body cams because it empowers citizens to watch the watchers. Flock offers no such benefit. You’ll likely justify the surveillance state you’re helping create with platitudes of a “safer society”. But America wasn’t founded to be safe. America was founded to be FREE. Flock is much more compatible with totalitarian countries like China or the UK, and I wish you great success there. As Benjamin Franklin famously summarized America’s ethos of rugged individualism: "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Now kindly get the flock out of America.

@alliao @HowToPrompt__ It's interesting you used Microsoft, which has proven it cannot be trusted, in your appeal to authority logical fallacy. I get it. You use your closed source freemium product to sell the upgrade. That's cool. But spamming a post about your open source competitor is weak sauce.

How To Prompt@HowToPrompt__·
Windows has 200+ services running in the background right now. Most of them exist to collect data on you. Someone built a free, open-source tool that kills almost every anti-user decision Windows has shipped in the last five years. Cortana. Copilot. Start menu ads. Telemetry. Location tracking. Suggested apps you never asked for. Gone. One click. One 8MB .exe. It's called optimizerDuck. The closest thing to "install Windows the way it should have shipped" I've seen. → 35+ optimizations across performance, privacy, GPU, power, services, UX → 200+ services you can toggle, each labeled low, medium, or high risk → vendor-specific GPU tuning for AMD, NVIDIA, and Intel → bloatware remover with a preview of what dies → every action gets a rollback file → prompts you to make a restore point before touching your system No installer. No telemetry. No ads. No premium tier. GPL v3. Runs offline. Windows 10/11 x64.

@Lina_rays1ya There is no such thing as hate speech, just speech you hate to read or hear. Costco can prohibit or allow things like that in their stores. You can choose to shop elsewhere if you don't like what they allow in their stores.

I cannot believe that COSTCO, a family store where there are many children with their parents would allow this POS wear that shirt in the store. I will be contacting COSTCO CORPORATE later today. I know we, in the USA 🇺🇸, have freedom of speech but not hate speech or these kind of statements when in a public place. President Donald J. Trump should take action. A) Agree _____ B) disagree

The situation is so much more desperate than you probably realize. University professors are saying they're now unable to teach history because reading long books and passages is how a person learns history. Their students are simply incapable of reading more than a few pages. Some classes don't assign any reading at all now, only lectures. There is an assumption among the people managing this decline that reading is just a way of receiving information. It isn't. Proper reading is how we build the mental muscle to synthesize ideas and evaluate them. If the catastrophic decline in reading and literacy is not addressed now, we risk losing everything. This is civilizational. Western civilization cannot survive the death of reading because it was built by people with the kind of cognitive depth that a culture of deep reading brings: Complex reasoning, extended internal dialogue, the capacity to hold opposing ideas in tension. Our systems and institutions are complex, and they require well ordered minds to maintain them. Reading forms minds, and the West was built by the richest minds in history. We must continue to form new minds in this same model if we're going to keep it.
