@akanoego @realamlug @NathanFoxed @theo This is just not real. Benchmarks and one-shotting random code bases is not a flex. Migrating a codebase involves more than letting a model run forever.

@realamlug @NathanFoxed @TheOperatorPro @theo Refactor this large codebase, migrate it to a different framework, stuff like that. It also has a better code taste. For specific examples you can look at the many coding benchmarks with large delta between Opus 4.8 and Fable.

I cannot express how extremely severe for the UK this is. Even more severe for the EU. AI is the most powerful tool humans have ever created. Because European governments have regulated us all to death, we are now heading to a doom loop. That means businesses left behind unable to compete, always losing out. It’s means Governments at the mercy of superpowers. You can once again thank our utterly useless leaders for this. Their shortsightedness and hunger for power means we will all be vastly poorer in so many ways.

Assuming Anthropic is able to restore Fable in the next few days, there's literally zero point doing any meaningful work until it is back. What can be done in 100 hours with Opus can be done in 1 with Fable. Hopefully this is figured out quickly.

Unprecedented. @BrianRoemmele warned everyone for the past two years that the government would take away our AI. That day just arrived. Was talking with an entrepreneur in San Francisco who was running Fable to build software and just turned it off while it was building. Tomorrow night Anthropic is throwing a Fable builders event in San Francisco. I wonder if that event is still going to happen? This hurts American national security. I know of several companies that were using Mythos to close all of their security holes because it is so powerful at finding weaknesses in software. That effort has not been completed, so there are many companies with many holes still open now. This throws that effort into question. It also means that China is emboldened because, you know, can you trust an American company to keep their systems up and running if the government is willing to shut them down so abruptly and with no warning? It also means that open source and running models on your own computers is now very attractive (if it wasn't already). Expect Apple Mac Studio sales to go up.

We’re removing access to Claude Fable 5 in Cognition products following Anthropic’s latest announcement and the US government directive to suspend access. All other models remain available in Devin, including Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5. Devin Ultra mode will continue to use the most powerful available models.

Anthropic is stating that the basis of the governments claim to suspend Claude Fable 5 are not valid. The report displayed a level of capability that other models such as GPT 5.5 could also achieve. Fable 5 will be back by Monday.

‼️🚨 BREAKING: Amazon researchers snitched to the US government about jailbreaking Fable 5 and Mythos 5, forcing Anthropic to immediately shut down worldwide access. A security export control directive from Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick enforced the action. Anthropic is fighting the directive and calls it a misunderstanding. This isn't the first clash. The Trump administration had already tried to get Anthropic to pause the release of its latest models before this directive landed.
