What are the health impacts of sea-level rise? One of the most immediate health consequences is unsafe water, as saltwater seeps into underground freshwater sources and contaminates drinking supplies. ⁦@WHOWPRO⁩ ⁦@CFigueres⁩ ⁦ theguardian.com/society/2026/a…

When footpaths are broken, blocked, or unsafe, it reflects how easily basic rights are overlooked in our cities. Did you know about your rights as pedestrians? Stay tuned to learn how you can exercise them. #MyWalkMyRight

An article that caught my eye today published in Ajit newspaper written by Paramjit Singh Gazi .It’s about distribution of waters of Punjab. Can the water crisis of Punjab be ignored? Punjab is no longer facing a water shortag, it is on the brink of entering water bankruptcy. Rivers that once defined our landscape are thinning. Rivers that once defined our landscape are thinning. Decades of data point to a steady decline, driven by unchecked extraction, untreated industrial discharge, urban waste, and policy gaps that have failed to keep pace with reality. The present scenario is alarming: • Rivers running lean and fragmented • Groundwater being mined beyond recharge limits • Toxic industrial effluents and urban sewage contaminating water systems This is not cyclical stress. It is structural collapse in the making. The risks are no longer confined to agriculture. They extend to: 1. Drinking water security 2. Public health 3. Ecological balance 4. Economic resilience What must bring Change with immediate effect: 1.Strict enforcement against industrial pollution and illegal discharge 2. Shift from extraction to recharging of water resources and moving towards water governance. 3. Scientific solutions and long-term policy planning 4. Shared accountability across state, industry, and citizens This crisis directly challenges our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation) SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being) SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production) SDG 13 (Climate Action) SDG 15 (Life on Land) Punjab stands at a critical threshold. Delay is not an option. Shrinking rivers, overdrawn groundwater, and industrial effluents polluting water systems signal structural collapse but collapse of a state. Act now. #Punjab #WaterCrisis #SDGs #ActNow

Water issue is very much linked to multiple factors. Concretisation of canals shows that Punjab is going towards drying of its own water bodies. Water is not just about flowing of water but also understanding water and nature. Playing with environment only brings devestation.
Samita Kaur@samitakaur74

Concretisation of canals and uprooting trees on the banks of canals is a blunder that will have repercussions for Punjab . This is shocking, due to extreme human folly Punjab is being lead towards desertification. Irrigation department has no suggestions for the government? youtube.com/shorts/_P7-nvi…

Where are the sparrows of Punjab? 🕊️ Their disappearance signals ecological imbalance—loss of pollination, natural pest control, and biodiversity. Let’s act: plant native, reduce pesticides, create safe spaces. #SaveSparrows #Punjab #Biodiversity #ActNow:

The sacred City of Amritsar was made by Guru Amar Das Ji, Guru Ram Das Ji, and Guru Arjan Dev Ji has been overlooked by our Punjab leaders for Heritage status which @UNESCO had proposed in somewhere around 2011 -14 . The old walled city planned by Gurus is going down into piles of garbage. @PbGovtIndia is doing not much about 450th Foundation Anniversary. I see no one bothered in the name of Panth all shout but the very creation of Gurus is getting deteriorated. The biggest achievement they’ve all done is created a Landfill . All I can say is shame on you all for considering everything else important but this. @SGPCAmritsar @J_SriAkalTakht @officeofssbadal @Akali_Dal_ @dc_amritsar @GurjeetSAujla @TarunpreetSond @ppcbgovt @CsPunjab @Sandhu_Kdeep1 @SimranjitSADA @manjitghuman58 @nitin_gadkari @WorldBankGroup @CMOPbIndia @AAPPunjab @INCPunjab @Akali_Dal_ @RavneetBittu
