.@AnkurNagpal on the @usvc_ launch that broke their internal targets in two hours:
"Internally we thought hey, $5 million in the first quarter from retail investors would be great. We hit that in the first two hours."
"Completely unprecedented. It was a very intense first 48 to 72 hours."

.@ankurnagpal on the legal lift behind @usvc_ that he can't take credit for:
"This was not me. The hard work was done by the AngelList team over many many years. Their head of legal Eric has been working on this concept for literally five years."
"This is not the sort of thing that happens overnight. Talking to the SEC, getting government approval. By the time I decided to sign on, the approvals were in place."

.@AnkurNagpal on what best in class looks like for @usvc_ one year from now:
"A thriving portfolio of what I hope to be the top 100 most impactful companies in America."
"If we own a large percentage of the top 100 private startups in the US, then everything else takes care of itself."

.@AnkurNagpal on the future portfolio mix at @usvc_ :
"You'll start seeing us take a bet on a lot of earlier stage companies, in some cases even pre seed and seed emerging managers."
"I don't have the time to index pre seed companies. But we can back the best seed managers and be exposed to that side. They serve as our eyes so when these companies develop into A's, B's and C's, we have a clear path into them."

.@AnkurNagpal on processing the AI noise and where @usvc_ actually places its bets:
"@OpenAI and @AnthropicAI are now about 1% of the US GDP, which is bat shit crazy."
"Whenever there's so much innovation, there's going to be a lot of other winners. My approach is to build the systems that allow us to identify these things at scale."
"A lot of the portfolio will be on the big audacious bets that are necessary for us to advance as a civilization."

.@AnkurNagpal GP of USVC on the fees that everyone gave them shit about:
"A lot of people gave us shit for our fee schedule and all of that. But I do think for a product like this, our expense ratio of 2.5% is pretty good when you consider the fact that a standard venture fund is 2%."
"But we're also potentially a fund of funds and we have to make this vehicle available publicly."
"This is a very compelling way of investing in venture, with all the normal caveats. Venture is illiquid, only do it with the speculative part of your portfolio."

Szymon on why he started Tester Army:
"You can ship code very fast. But sometimes testing the feature takes more time than even creating it." - @SzymonRybczak
Most teams only test the new feature. They don't retest the rest of the app. Bugs appear weeks later in flows nobody touched.
His bet: AI doesn't just write code faster. It tests code
faster.

Sam Altman to a YC founder asking "won't you just build this?":
"If you're not happy when there's a new better model release and you're building in this space, you should change something."
The test:
New model = your product gets better → moat New
model = your product feels threatened → wrapper
Brutal but clear.

Szymon on the Polish startup scene right now:
"It's changing. Really changing for good." - @SzymonRybczak
ElevenLabs (Martin and Piotr) leading the way. Sales Patriot in YC. Pocket from the previous batch. Tester Army now.
VCs in Central Europe finally finding good founders.
The next 5 years will rewrite the "Eastern Europe = outsourced engineering" narrative.

How @SzymonRybczak got into YC:
Built Tester Army on weekends as a side project.
Posted on LinkedIn he was changing jobs. VCs cold reached out.
Applied to YC on the last day. Got an interview the next evening.
10 minutes. 30 seconds per question.
3am Polish time, Pete Koomen emailed. By 8am, he was probably in.
Side project to YC in months.

Szymon from Tester Army on what YC actually feels like:
"First impression was first day in school. But the best school ever, the coolest school you could be in." - @SzymonRybczak
Batch is full of ex-Google, ex-Apple, top AI labs.
His line: "Sometimes one question from a partner can change the whole way you were thinking."
That's the 7% you can't get anywhere else.

Szymon from Tester Army got to hear Sam Altman speak at YC.
What stood out wasn't the AGI talk. It was how Sam answered:
"I was surprised how conscious he is. He spent good time thinking before answering. His answers were really into the point." - @SzymonRybczak
Sam's hot take that stuck: solo billion dollar companies are coming. You can already make millions running a company with just AI agents.
