.@WHO has released US$2 million from our Contingency Fund for Emergencies to support urgent health responses in #Lebanon, #Iraq and #Syria. At a time of growing needs and limited resources, this rapid funding demonstrates WHO’s commitment to sustaining emergency care, essential medicines and supplies, and disease surveillance as the crisis places growing pressure on health systems. CFE funding will also be made available to support targeted, priority health interventions in Iran in response to the current conflict, should WHO support be requested. @UN l @UNarabic l @WHOEMRO l @WHO 🔗 emro.who.int/media/news/who…

“The rapid escalation of hostilities in the Middle East is deeply alarming. Our Region is already fragile, shaped by years of conflict, displacement, and underfunded health systems.
Further violence will not only claim lives directly. It will push already strained health systems closer to collapse, disrupt essential services, and deepen trauma across generations. I urge all parties to exercise immediate restraint and to de-escalate. The protection of civilians, health workers and health facilities is an obligation under international humanitarian law.” @HananBalkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean.
