Our new preprint outlining how gene-by-covariate interactions can be used to evaluate instrument validity is now available online! Thanks to Fernando, Eleanor, George and Jack for great comments and contributions 😀 medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

Just such terrible news. Harvey was brilliant, modest, committed to equality in every domain of life, and great company. He leaves whilst still at the height of his powers, with open projects that will continue, and inspiring others. The world is diminished by his passing.

Findings from MR suggest alcohol consumption is causally associated with risk of hyperuricemia in Korean men. Great working with @mrc_ieu and @yonsei_u on this project! doi.org/10.1111/1756-1…

Come by poster 3373T today to discuss variable selection in Mendelian randomization for correlated risk factors with shared genetic predictors, or anything else Mendelian randomization related! Look forward to productive discussions! #ASHG18

Superpower: the ability to *think* like an economist, yet *not write as one*. The concepts are so useful, just don't use the jargon.

Most talks so far use either UKBB or publicly available summarized data. This enables powerful analyses without requiring genetic epidemiologists to interact with data generators. However, have we gone too far in separating ourselves from medical colleagues? #IGES18
