@Mattpayne22 @fesshole This was absolutely a feature of some early VCRs. The intended use was to record commentary or music over home movies taken with a camcorder. (I only know this because I was the sort of dweeby kid who read technology manuals from cover to cover. Maybe this should be a fess.)

As a teenager I used to put tape over the pressed out tab on VHS videos from the rental shop in the village, then audio dub "fuck off" over the sound at random points in a movie before it went back.

@GregScottTV There's usually a gradual move for presenters from R1 to R2. Cover shows, then a day time show and eventually breakfast, if the person wants it. Whilst Greg James had a lot of coverage with comic relief last week, I don't think they'd drag him straight from R1 to R2 breakfast.

@ITV there appears to be a problem with the @ITVX streaming of the @BRITAwards The audio keeps cutting out and producing white noise on the good bits, the jokes, speeches, etc. quite a difficult watch with all the breaks. Can this be fixed please?

My wife is organising an extremely expensive trip to Iceland for my next (big) birthday as she thinks it's somewhere I've always wanted to go. The only reason I wanted to go was because in 1996 Loaded magazine said Reykjavik has the most beautiful women in the world.

My take on the whole EV Tax is what’s the point from a consumers POV? I did a 400 mile round trip to London on Saturday starting with a full charge and it cost me £94.99 in additional charging now I’ll get charged for the mileage as well. Fossil fuel cars are now clearly cheaper.

I'd considered changing to an EV, but something like what I have is well over the £40k limit before the extra road tax kicks in, plus another £450 for the 15k miles a year I do. All expected though, draw you in, then boom!

@RachelReevesMP bought my second hand EV to help me have lower costs as I head close to retirement. Now I have to pay £300 a year extra as well as road tax and vat on the electricity to charge it. You've just decimated the EV car industry.

So much for the 'environment' then. I've just taken delivery of my firsever EV. Annual car tax on it is £600 & I can now look forward to paying an additional £400 (minimum) from Apr 2028. These fuckers are taxing us all out of existence !! #Budget2026

I have only heard my neighbours doing it once in the last year. Genuinely starting to worry about their relationship. I don't want them to split up and move out because they're good neighbours.
