It’s interesting how many generations of bad decisions contributed to Philly’s predicament. Hinkie gave them an almost foolproof asset surplus. But Colangelo traded for Fultz. And Brand chose Tobias/Simmons over Jimmy. And Brown traded Bridges. And Morey signed those contracts.

But Rick Tocchet indicated today that he'd like to see the players challenge one another a bit more when facing adversity. “Well that’s great (having a tight-knit team), but also, a good friend...it’s being able to hold you accountable. That’s the one thing, the group, I’d like to see them get on each other a little bit in a positive way. I’m not saying yell and scream, but whether it’s practice, or if somebody makes a mistake after the first in the dressing room after the coaches leave -- don’t be afraid to make your friend accountable. Sometimes we’re all buddies and they’re scared to say something. I find that a little bit with this team. The teams I’ve played (on) or coached, the leadership get on each other, in a good way. The #Eagles are the only team with an existing HC that is still searching for an OC after the Bucs reportedly hired Zac Robinson (who the Eagles also interviewed). The other four teams that made an OC change this offseason: Lions (Drew Petzing), Chargers (Mike McDaniel), Chiefs (Eric Bienemy), Commanders (David Blough). There remain eight teams that have fired their HC that still have OC openings: Cardinals, Bills, Browns, Steelers, Ravens, Raiders have yet to hire HCs, while the Dolphins and Titans have hired HCs Jeff Hafley and Robert Saleh, who have yet to fill their OC spot. The Giants with new HC John Harbaugh will reportedly have Todd Monken as OC and the Falcons with Kevin Stefanski will have Tommy Rees.

@denizselman33 They’re not even getting the top candidates to take them seriously. McDaniel only talking to them virtually and Daboll preferring to be OC in TN is a bad sign. Coaches don’t want to be handcuffed to Nick

I am fearful that those in the "just get a competent guy in here, don't take risks with the young guys!" camp are overestimating how good the offensive roster is going to be in 2026. But the offensive coaches may need to actually add value, not just not subtract it. 3/3

Nagy is precisely the "uninspiring retread" that I personally don't want to see hired. While Patullo was obviously terrible, how bad he was should not dictate the optimal amount of risk to be taken with this hire. 1/3

Nagy is from the Lancaster area, went to Delaware. Started his coaching career with the Eagles. His break as an OC came when Doug Pederson was hired by the Eagles. His first postseason game as the Bears' head coach came against the Eagles. His DC with the Bears? Vic Fangio.

The #Eagles interviewed Matt Nagy for their offensive coordinator job today, sources say. Nagy, an intern and assistant for Andy Reid in Philly from 2008-12, is currently exploring a few OC options.

@bsbr666 @EKing58294 @Morons4Trump @KKurzNHL The Sixers' Process was scorned by people in that world (as it was by a lot of older sports fans). That an open, full-fledged tank is cheating the fans out of a quality product. The desire to Not Pull A Sixers played a role, too, from my understanding.

An example of contextualizing. I used to report on tech in a regulated industry. A major federal agency suddenly committed billions to adopting a technology from a private company. It was a big deal that also generated a ton of skepticism. We reported on it at least monthly...
