@Viserren @ConnorRMCG I had that exact bug when I started rigging 2D assets about a month ago haha

Thought I'd share some development screenshots of progress over the last few weeks. Couple of bug's and a couple from today :D #indiedev #unity #gamedev

Don't sleep on Data Assets in UE. They allow you to separate your data from your blueprints and gameplay logic, which keeps your project clean and makes it super easy to create variants of objects. Full Tutorial: youtu.be/3PrpLvC5EO8

fine, i'll build it myself, open source ofc Launching Three-Maps, a rapid blockout editor for building game maps for threejs games: Create a floor plan in 2D, automatically generate 3D levels from it, edit them, export to .glb and use in your games (see end of video) Features: - Floorplan 2D: A 2D canvas to map out the floor - Edit Mode for Objects: Edit Vertices/Edges/Faces, extrude, bevel, fillet and chamfer - Brush Mode: Rapidly build map elements with a RealtimeCSG like experience. Cubes, Stairs, Doors, Arch, Cylinder, Custom polygons. Yes, you can even curve the stairs - Modifiers: Yes, you read that right, slap that array modifier on your pillar and call it a day - Terrain Generator: Perlin, Voronoi, you name it. Oh yes, you can rasterize it and edit every single vertex in edit mode. Keyboard shortcuts are mostly same as blender to activate that muscle memory (G/R/S, axis lock XYZ) Soon: - AI integration. Boot that MCP and directly connect your fav AI agent to build the floorplan, generate 3D maps and more (you will love how this movie ends) It's a little rough and in early, very early alpha so come and join as a contributor instead of calling it slop It's all vibe coded btw, i have no idea what the code does I need this to build my game, as i'm a total blender noob and threejs is great, so why not? Outshipping every CAD and 3D startup just because i want to build a game, that's how you accelerate

level designer AI is easily a $100M opportunity waiting to be unlocked there is so much depth in designing game worlds, even a 3D blockout designer ai would be printing money like crazy some thoughts about what agents should be good at: 1. Clear Strategic Progression AI that helps in building the core experience loops as well as the big loop of intro > buildup > climax > resolution 2. Spatial Design Generating or at least reviewing shapes, landmarks, lighting, colors and cues for coherence and clarity. 3. Pacing Create series of high intensity moments with breaks of relaxation 4. Reward Generate meaningful challenges which feel rewarding. The challenge, depending on the progression in the game, should be just difficult enough for players to feel like they're much more skilled after achieving it. Progression should incorporate new skills after they're unlocked 5. Show, not tell AI should be capable of constructing scenes where the objective is clear from the design of the level using all of the above, without relying on verbose explanations. Current LLMs are very bad at these skills when tasked to create games. They are highly finetuned to mimic known gameplay mechanics. It's not clear to me how this can be done as all points are very tightly coupled to gameplay, so it needs to be able to own and understand the mechanics to be able to build out levels and tell a story. I still think this is very much possible to solve, it needs the right benchmarks for ai agents to train on and open minded experts in these fields to use them and find limitations

for low poly, I first try to find the minimum number of vertices required to describe an object's most basic readable form - in this case the S-shaped silhoutte in the middle. Then I play with adding a single further iteration of geometry, if necessary

This year I'd like to improve my Technical Artist skills. Mainly shaders, rigging and VFX. I've gained some of these skills while making PaperKlay, pipeline and tools efficiency. Ways to speed up the workflow.

@IronIntOfficial In this situation, I normally just do something else, maybe music, or UI elements.

I've been so stressed lately because of the last project I had to hand in. However, here you have the little prototype I created with my group. We will likely continue to develop this game further, but it's a pretty good prototype. #unity #gamedev

After two insufferable days and a lot of coffee, I created a mechanical prototype for a game whose entire purpose was to avoid crunching your work until the last minute... But hey, that's my dev life lol #unity3d #gamedev #prototype

How is ARC Raiders so well optimised running on UE5? 🔸It boosts performance by not using the most demanding UE5 features. 🔸Instead, the game uses efficient systems like RTXGI and simpler shadow maps. To know more, check out this excellent article 👇 x.com/QNDZYcom/statu…
