@andrewxroas what do you think is the future of this space with tech being commoditized and paid/organic distribution being squeezed?

@oliverbrocato 3.6M ARR is probably better than 64M raise tbh

I also have a confession. We didn’t raise $64M. - Bustem is fully bootstrapped (proudly raised $0) - We're doing $3.6M ARR (and growing quickly) - We’re highly profitable My social media intern thought it would be a good hook... If I get cancelled she gets fired.

We raised $64M for this moment: Introducing Bustem. Bustem scans the internet to find and eliminate 100% of counterfeits RT + comment “SCAN” and I’ll send you a list of every scammer targeting your brand 🫵

Ironically, while everyone celebrates AI, it will likely reduce income for most indie makers and devs due to extreme competition. Simple fact: there is ~80% chance that your new app will never reach $10k/mo.

openclaw going viral right now is cool but not new 5-6 years ago i was reading @levelsio and @alexwestco blogs where they talked about running entire businesses with cron jobs, scrapers, and bots as solopreneurs openclaw is that same playbook, automate everything, stay solo, but with ai adding context and intelligence on top it’s re-popularizing what solopreneurs have been doing quietly for years: cron jobs + scraping + automation just with better branding this time

It only happens if the founder does not fully understand what a startup means. 1/ If you build Cursor, Airbnb, or etc. — you are a startup. Your goal is to become the new Apple. Another level of ambition. 2/ If you build a simple saas — you are a classic business. Your goal is just to make 10% more money compared to the prev month. And the stress only comes if you are really the 2 type, but pretend to be the 1 type.
Tibo@tibo_maker

taking VC money is such a headache nobody tells you what actually happens after you take VC money. you stop building a company and start building a story for the next round projections have to be unrealistic, growth has to be aggressive "good business" stops being enough - it has to be venture-scale or you're failing by definition first-time founders chase funding because that's what X, TechCrunch, and every startup podcast celebrates. the raise IS the headline - the proof you made it they don't realize they just signed up for a completely different game I raised hundreds of thousands for my first two startups. both failed I'm now bootstrapping 5 SaaS products, trying to get each to $100K MRR. no board pressure, no forced narratives, 100% freedom - just building things that work for me VC money isn't bad. it's just a different game with different rules, and most founders just don't read them before signing the game you pick matters the most are you building a company or building a fundraising story?

@EndrewBiz @andevoo @ivesparrowai lol a lot of businesses are sold for much lesser multiples if there's high risk (tweethunter sold for 1x arr around 3 years ago iirc)

Why are we even building mobile apps? > constant fight with Apple > risk your app gets removed from the store > high cost of paying users > harder to buy ads > payback up to 12 months > ROAS only +30% > insane competition and this guy is doing $50M a year with a 3-month payback and a final ROAS of x2-3 on email newsletters... WHAAAT?? I don’t know a single gaming or mobile apps studio with numbers like that
Matt Paulson@MediaKing

Media businesses are so easy when someone tells you what metrics you should strive for: - 30-60 Day Break Even on Ad Spend - 3X ROAS on Ad Spend After 12 Months - 40%+ Email Open Rates - 0.5% Email Clickthrough Rates - 20% Email to SMS Conversion Rate etc.
