everything you need to know about YC's latest spring 2026 "request for startups" worth reading what YC wants YOU to build a business around: 1. cursor for product managers engineers already have ai writing code but now yc wants ai that decides what to build. you feed it customer calls and usage data, it spits out “build this next” plus tasks agents can ship. 2. ai-native hedge funds not humans using ai. ai is the fund. agents read filings, earnings, research, place trades, and invent strategies humans wouldn’t think of. 3. ai-native agencies agencies that feel like software companies. use ai internally, sell finished work, charge more, hire fewer people, scale without adding headcount. productized agencies are back? 4. stablecoin financial services banks built on stablecoins. faster payments, better yield, global money movement without full crypto chaos. the rails are finally here. 5. ai for government governments are drowning in digital forms. ai handles intake, routing, and processing so things stop moving at glacial speed. 6. modern metal mills factories rebuilt with software. ai runs planning, pricing, energy, and scheduling so steel and aluminum don’t take 30 weeks to ship. 7. ai for physical work ai that watches what you see and tells you what to do. hvac, nursing, manufacturing. training goes from years to days. tldr; 6 out of 7 ideas are AI they are bullish on ai that's forsure each idea replaces coordination, middle layers, and slow human glue with agents that actually act. it’s a great mental model even if you never apply to yc. these ideas force you to ask: where is work still getting stuck just because humans are in the loop? yc is giving you a map they are telling you what to build what a time to be alive

most investors misunderstand the Google Genie launch the real opportunity isn't recreating Fortnite or GTA - it's the emergence of an entirely new storytelling medium, on par with the first film, comics, or short-form video world models won't build traditional AAA video games anytime soon. games today are deterministic: predefined rules, scripted events, fixed logic. you go to the bank and a robbery happens, squeeze a trigger and the gun does X damage etc. multiplayer games like Fortnite require 100 clients to agree on the same state, frame by frame world models like Genie are different. they're probabilistic - the next frame is inferred, not scripted. neither player nor developer knows exactly what will happen until it does. that makes them poorly suited for traditional games. the generations also have a delay, are expensive, and hard to control (as of today) however, world models also have unique strengths: - deep personalization - an infinite canvas - integration with coding / creative agents - radically lower barrier (and blank slate) for new creators instead of forcing world models into existing game formats, imagine a new storytelling medium built around these strengths: - Dune fans stepping into Arrakis to retrace Muad'dib's journey - Game of Thrones fans creating alternate endings with friends - Niche literary genres like Lovecraftian romance or alternative military history exploding into pop culture - 100M+ fan fiction writers building worlds to illustrate their rich imaginations - Film students breaking out with immersive documentaries about exotic places / people in the world most of us will never visit we're just at the beginning of this journey. models are improving quickly. control layers, editing workflows, creator tools still need to get built - but they will come i believe there's a rare opportunity in the near future for the right team - blending creatives and technologists - to build a Pixar for this new storytelling medium. just as Pixar unlocked new types of stories through computer graphics, world models / interactive video could unlock a new category of interactive experiences we can't yet fully predict today for more detail, check out our earlier blog on this 👇

Demo alert: What if your company wiki was automatically written and updated by LLMs? @MrJamesFisher built a demo of this for @meetgranola using all the meetings we've shared internally. Observations so far: it's incredibly up to date (no more stale docs!) and it requires zero effort. Not having a human author feels... different. When it's missing context on something (ie when something happens but we don't talk about it in a meeting) I want to add it manually to the wiki, but then that'll disappear the next time the page gets regenerated... Generally, makes me bullish on workflows where humans feed tons of unstructured data (easiest of which to create is conversations) to an AI, and then AI organizes + structures it on the fly.

Dishoom made nearly $150M in revenue in 2023, though only about ~$10.3M in operating profit pretty impressive considering how consistent the quality is as they've scaled (11 locations now) also the founders are Harvard Business school grads and did bain/investment banking lol
