the investors paying the least tax usually aren't the ones earning the most. they just understand depreciation and most people never sit down to learn it. the gap is information, not income.

@adsventurous_ @aporia9n Get fluent in Spanish :). A lot of businesses you interact with (power company, city taxes, etc) are only Spanish speaking and none of their websites ever work. One quirk I didn’t expect is no property taxes but you instead pay a 10% transfer tax when you buy your flat

Second homes are the classic rich-person trap, the thing that looks great on paper but that you end up regretting for a long long while. I’ve never understood the idea of becoming extremely rich only to accumulate 10 properties, 30 cars and endless material assets that need to be maintained, insured, staffed and constantly thought about. At some point you’ve basically created a small company whose only job is managing your stuff. And then the assets start dictating your life. You bought the house in Tuscany so now you feel like you should spend every summer there. You own the London flat so you keep going back even if somewhere else would be more fun. The things you bought to give yourself more options end up reducing them. If I had that level of money, I’d want the exact opposite: maximum optionality and as little dependence as possible. Spend three months in London, winter in Dubai, summer in Italy, stay in the best places and leave the second the weather, politics or taxes become annoying. Own the very few things that genuinely anchor my life, rent almost everything else and remain dependent on no asset, city or government. The economics are even more absurd here: nearly £1m of stamp duty on a £5m London flat, before service charges, repairs and exposure to whatever tax the next government invents. That alone can fund years of renting somewhere better. Ownership makes sense when it gives you stability. Beyond that, every additional asset is another small administrative job. The ultimate luxury isn’t owning everything. It’s being able to access almost anything while being trapped by almost nothing.

@aporia9n I live in the West Coast. I have a second home in Barcelona, Spain. Honestly, pretty rad. Totally love it. I don’t try to maximize my investment by renting it out or anything. I stay there 3-4 months a year and love BCN and having a home base to tool around Europe.

@x4kbbb9cp5 My wife and I go out all the time and my mother just watches the kids. It’s not hard if you have a good relationship with family you just make a call and they usually oblige, for free.

The Presbyterian Church (USA) voted 454–15 to recognize Israel's actions in Gaza as a genocide, divest from Palantir and GE Aerospace, lobby Congress for an arms embargo, and boycott certain products. They also say that criticism of the Israeli government is not inherently antisemitic. They're the first major Christian denomination in the USA to formally label Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide. This is a huge development and a critical escalation in how mainstream US religious institutions perceive Israel, so where's the news coverage? It happened last week, and I've barely seen anything about it in US mainstream media.

Too lazy to translate into German or French to test portable AC offers? Here's a @taboola intel report outlining a test you can run today with a rep. Everyone says native is a mobile game now. Meanwhile a portable AC offer has been running UK Taboola with 87% of its traffic on desktop. 45% Desktop Mac alone. Top publishers by volume: bristolpost.co.uk — 16.3% walesonline.co.uk — 13.2% dailyrecord.co.uk — 11.9% devonlive.com — 11.4% chroniclelive.co.uk — 8.6% birminghammail.co.uk — 9.6% Notice anything? Almost all Reach plc regional news. One publisher group. That's not an accident — Reach desktop article pages run dense Taboola widgets below the fold, and the audience reading Bristol Post at 2pm on a Windows machine is exactly who buys a £150 portable AC unit before a heatwave. The device split is the tell. 45% Mac / 42% Windows / 13% iPhone means this buyer is deliberately bidding desktop — probably because the advertorial → checkout flow converts on a big screen and the 50+ reader isn't impulse-buying appliances on a phone. The plan is public. Most people just don't look.

@AntSpeaks Nothing wrong with calling genocide what it is and simultaneously pointing out the hypocrisy of Israel. Just maybe stop killing kids for a change.

Fuck System Of A Down, and Serj Tankian in particular. He pushes the tired old "genocide in Gaza" narrative while simultaneously demanding that Israel recognise the Armenian genocide, after years of complaining that it didn't. His opinions carry about as much weight as the fact his band hasn't managed to release a proper studio album in nearly two decades because the members can't stand each other. They only reunite to tour because the money is too good. Pathetic.

For all my internet marketers, how do you guys book biz class flights a few days or weeks out? From what Im seeing with Amex its like 200-400k pts for one way flights which is abysmal and better off paying cash. Is there something Im missing?

I love when affiliates look at my network and go "you only have 20 offers?" like that's a bad thing Mf would you rather have 300 offers where only a few of them convert or 20 that are all converting cos we tested them ourselves I only add offers that we run internally and are profitable. If it doesn't make us money it doesn't go on the dashboard. Simple as that But nah you guys got it, 300 shitty offers looks way more impressive I guess

This is biblical. A woman in her eighties. Ten years into Alzheimer's. Hadn't spoken a full sentence in five years. Takes one, 5 gram dose of psilocybin. She slept 19 hours and woke up and spoke for hours about her life, recognized family and held real conversations. She regained bladder control after five years, walked on her own. and dressed herself. Gains held for weeks.
