LPG Distributors Appeal Against Panic Booking, Urge Public Not to Harass Staff, Enforce Strict Rationing Amid Middle East Crisis Bengaluru The All India #LPG Distributors Federation (#Karnataka Circle) has imposed strict rationing measures on domestic LPG refills across the state, citing supply disruptions linked to the ongoing geopolitical crisis in the #MiddleEast. The move comes in response to panic booking and surging demand, which have created delivery backlogs of up to 10 days. The Federation outlined mandatory booking intervals to ensure fair distribution. Single-bottle connections will now require a 25-day gap for 14.2 kg cylinders, nine days for 5 kg, and 18 days for 10 kg composite cylinders. Double-bottle connections face longer waits -35 days for 14.2 kg, 12 days for 5 kg, and 25 days for 10 kg composite cylinders. Ujjwala connections, which serve economically weaker households, will be rationed at 45 days for 14.2 kg and 16 days for 5 kg cylinders. Distributors explained that while refills continue to be supplied, the sheer volume of bookings far exceeds the stock allocated by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). Delivery delays are being worsened by technical glitches in booking apps, non-operational days at LPG plants on Sundays and holidays, and staff shortages. Reports of delivery personnel facing abuse and threats from frustrated consumers have further strained manpower. Adding to the disruption, prepaid bookings have been suspended, and popular third-party apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe and Amazon Pay are not accepting LPG bookings. Consumers have been urged to rely on official OMC platforms like IndianOil ONE, HP PAY, Hello BPCL or verified IVRS and WhatsApp lines. The Federation has appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid visiting agencies or godowns in person, stressing that distributors act only as channel partners and have no control over supply allocations.
