Nagpur's 'broad gauge Metro' stands shelved. It was proposed to be a more than 200 km of regional rail network connecting neighbouring towns. According to this article, the cost was to be taken from savings of Metro Phase 1! It had even recieved approvals!

A alternative was proposed and then shelved : Nagpur Broad gauge metro. This was a suburban network for Nagpur to neighbouring towns, villages and districts, operated by Mahametro on IR tracks. An old map I found on reddit for then proposals of phase 2 + BG metro (3/🧵)

@ParateUtkarsh Nagpur should have at least double that fleet. Even with over 400 buses per million, Bengaluru still sees crowded buses on some routes. Indian cities should aim for more than 400 buses/million.

Piggybacking off of this, the newly redeveloped station-front at Nagpur has NO FOOTPATHS! Roadside is instead a filthy mess of illegal auto parking and shanties. Many people walk from here to the bus station adjacent to this. Zero safety for them.

@HQuarterma43504 india is just physically smaller. rn there are just 9 T1 cities, with 3 of them already >20m, with a couple more budding up. we would be lucky is even a couple of cities like jaipur, lucknow, indore and coimbatore cross the boundary into T1. my guess on what would be our new T1s

@aneeshw7 No, the words you have given above are tatsama borrowings from Sanskrit in respective Dravidian languages. They cannot be called cognate to the Konkani word.
I suggest you understand what the word cognate means before using it casually.

The more common word across different Konkani varieties is सोयरो soyro (m.) [सोयरी soyrī (f.)] which comes from Sanskrit सोदरकः sōdarakaḣ (m.) "co-uterine".

With the latest additions, Nagpur's Aapli Bus not has a fleet size of 700! That's ~195 buses per million! (This is still short of the recommended number, though) Ridership, while low, has climbed from ~1.5 lakh earlier this year to 2 lakh now and will continue to rise!

Nagpur's AC e-bus fare is nearly the same as non AC bus fare! Aapli bus has an active fleet of 503 now, i.e ~140+buses/million people (more than Mumbai) of which 409 are e-buses. NMC also has 195 diesel buses, to be phased out. The target fleet is 850 ebuses (250 buses/mil)
