Do we really need a metro—or just another excuse for blind development? Cut the trees. Hide the data. Call hearings a “formality.” And then sell it as progress? This isn’t development. It’s destruction with a PR team. #PuneMetro #SaveTrees @Dev_Fadnavis @DhruvRathenx

Indians on downstream of Pune are drinking sewage of Pune/Pimpri Chinchwad loaded with heavy metals. They are suffering with chronic diseases. Instead of cleaning, PMC/PCMC are spending thousands of Crs of our money on decorating these rivers with concrete. PUNEKARS, IS THAT OK?

#WATCH | Teena Choudhry, the woman seen in the viral video wearing a black cap, confronting Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan over a traffic jam, releases a statement detailing her side of the story She says, "I have received so many messages regarding my safety. I want to let you know that I'm fine and I appreciate the concern. That day, on April 21, I dropped my daughter off for her music class at four. I was meant to pick her up at 4.45. When I took a left turn from Mahindra Taj, we got stuck in a jam there. I was in my car for 25 minutes. When the traffic did not move, I got out to find out what the problem was. For the next one and a half hours, I went to every single police officer there to request that if you get the two buses removed, people who are stuck, we can make a U-turn and join the main road. I received no reaction, no response. I did not throw that bottle towards any protester or rally, but on the ground to attract the attention of the police... Mr Mahajan was actually the only person in that rally who at least tried to listen to what I was saying. On his instructions, the two buses were moved, and we all took a U-turn, and we were able to join the main road..." (Disclaimer: Screenshot of the viral video from social media)

Today: Tree Hearing – Dhankawadi Ward Office Metro project is moving ahead without following complete procedures Rushed hearings, no transparency, poor evaluation. We need accountability before irreversible damage is done. #SaveTrees #Pune #Dhankawadi #TreeHearing #MetroProject

“Central Govt funded” — that’s what the Tree Officer claimed. But facts Not fully central. It’s a 50:50 GoI–GoM project. And 70–80% funding is debt (incl. EIB & AFD loans). This debt is repaid by the project → citizens of Pune pay. That’s why public transport gets costlier.

Road and government building work across Maharashtra, including Pune, may slow down from April 7 after contractors announced a phase-wise shutdown over pending government dues of ₹96,400 crore. The protest has been called by the Maharashtra State Contractors Association and several other contractor groups. Contractors say the state government has not cleared payments for months despite repeated meetings and letters. The biggest unpaid amounts are ₹29,000 crore under the Public Works Department and ₹35,000 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran. Around three lakh contractors and developers are expected to be affected. The shutdown is expected to affect road, bridge, water supply and government building projects in cities like Pune, Mumbai and Thane. Contractor groups have warned that if payments are not released soon, the protest may become more intense in the coming days. #Maharashtra #Pune #ContractorsStrike #Infrastructure #Punetimesmirror

The three overhead water tanks opposite Dorabjee Mall in the Undri-Mohammedwadi-NIBM Road area were built nearly a decade ago to supply water to local residents, but they have never been used because the pipeline work was never completed. As a result, residents have had to rely on private water tankers for years. The issue became more serious in December 2023, when a 16-year-old girl named Insiya was allegedly taken to the top of one of the abandoned tanks by two boys. According to residents, the boys threatened a security guard with a koyta before taking her there. Later that night, Insiya was found unconscious at the bottom of the 40-foot tank and had suffered 10 fractures. Residents suspect she may have been assaulted and either pushed or fell during a struggle. The two accused fled. Since then, locals say the unused tanks are no longer just a sign of civic failure—they have become a serious safety risk. #Undri #Mohammedwadi #Pune #WaterCrisis #Punetimesmirror
