@AngelicaOung Notice how they're meeting at the KMT venue, meanwhile DPP politicians just meet inside the AiT

DAILY CHENG-POSTING: Today, AIT Director Raymond F. Greene met with KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun at KMT Headquarters. During the meeting, Director Greene and Chair Cheng stated that cross-Strait differences should be resolved by peaceful means, free from coercion, in a manner acceptable to the people on both sides of the Strait. Commentary by Dr. Albert Tzeng: « Her outspoken, daring style is sometimes described as having the "gene of DPP." She departed from the camp's conventional strategy of balancing between the US, Japan, and China. Instead, she has a stronger sense of agency and a clear sequence of steps. She chose to talk to Beijing first to alleviate the tension and then, according to her plan, she will try to persuade the United States of a peace and stability. In her speech, we also noticed that she stepped outside of the KMT’s ideological tradition and demonstrated more understanding of those with left-wing perspectives. I think she created an opportunity to enhance and further the communication for both sides. »

The number of adults being diagnosed with ADHD has risen six-fold since 2017, and it has increased by almost a third in the last year alone. This is largely because of the rise of ADHD-specific telehealth clinics providing quick diagnoses, sometimes based on online questionnaires alone. Where those clinics are also dispensing medication, there are obvious concerns regarding clinical decision-making and commercial incentives. We need better regulation of telehealth services—it's an under-regulated part of our health system. Image: @abcnews

I made a public complaint on Chinese Social Media (小红书) about how i hate how bad smoking is in public places in Xinjiang, literally every cafe or restaurant people smoke, yet in big cities they already have bans. My post went really viral and the government have just made a new law banning smoking in indoor public places from May 1!! I received lots of messages from women today thanking me for it saying i was the one to change it🤣🤣

And this is what consistency over 2+ years can get you. Two years ago in April, a 9:30-10:00 pace put me at 150 heart rate (top of Z2). Today, that same pace would put me at ~115 heart rate, and to get my heart rate to 150, I need to run at about 6:45 pace. The first screenshot is from today on a fairly hilly trail run, where I was about 30 beats a minute lower heart rate at a bit faster pace. In the second screenshot, you can see my pace versus heart rate from the run two years ago, where I still have pretty significant heart rate drift even with my pace slowing down. The 3rd screenshot is from 2.5 years ago, right when I started running. As you can see, I had to steadily slow from ~9:30 to 10:30 pace to keep my HR under 150. The 4th screenshot is a run from about two weeks ago, which shows that to hit 145-150 heart rate, I now need to run at about a 6:40-6:50 pace, nearly 4 mins faster than when I started. And this post is not to brag. It's to show you that consistency matters more than anything and to show how much you can improve, even on relatively low volume, as long as you are consistent. Around the time of the run, 2 years ago, I was running 1-2 times and 5-10 miles a week and biking 1-2 hours a week, for 2-3 hours total. In the 2 years since, I have (probably too) slowly ramped up my volume. Most of last year I ran 15 to 20 miles a week and biked 3-5 hours per week, for 5-7 hours total. For the past 6 months, I've averaged 20mpw and biked 4-6 hours a week, for 8-10 total hours. I have yet to run more than 30 miles in a week, or run more than 4 days (usually 3) per week. And 80%+ of my running and biking over the past 2 years has been below 75% of my max heart rate. With at least 50% of that even being under 70% MHR. In other words, EASY. So even now, I don't do crazy high-volume training, at least nothing like a lot of guys you see on social media doing 15-20+ hours a week, but I've been very consistent. I've had no serious injuries and haven't had to take more than a few unscheduled days off here and there. The whole point of this post is this: You probably don't need a new program, you probably don't need to work harder, you probably don't need much more volume (at least not for a while), and you almost certainly don’t need more intensity. You probably just need more consistency. And slowing down probably wouldn’t hurt either.

@birdrefuge4745 @teortaxesTex Actually Hatoyama was originally an LDP politician for many years. He was an LDP vice-minister for Okinawa at one point. His grandfather was Prime Minister and literally the founder of the LDP.

@teortaxesTex Interestingly what both Hatoyama and Murayama had in common was that they were both outsiders not part of Japan's LDP party who were the rehabilitated order post imperial Japan. Hatoyama came from a party with explicit left leaning and Murayama was a social democrat.

«Breaking the language barrier with Japan has made it abundantly clear that Americans aren't beholden to a Europe that constantly stabs us in the back.» > meanwhile in Japan G-d willing, Americans will realize they have no ironclad vassals, only nations that thought them friends

BLACK DUMPLING™@BlackDumpling

It's a truth Americans ignored. We told ourselves hatred from Europe wasn't anything special because everyone hated us. Because there was something about us that deserved it. Deserved contempt, vitriol. But no, truth is Europe hates us because there's something wrong with them. Breaking the language barrier with Japan has made it abundantly clear that Americans aren't beholden to a Europe that constantly stabs us in the back. Counts every single favor as some outsized gift that we should count our blessings to have, considers every debt to us as a matter of just what we owe them for being what we are. Consider every interaction you've had with a European, or even Canadian, where they've treated American-ness like it was some sort of disease, a malady, a "thing" that made you inferior. That you owed them some otherwise unspoken apology for. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. You do. We've all encountered it, sometimes daily. None of it was true of course, but that didn't matter to them. Piggish Americans. Stupid Americans. Buffoonish Americans. For the longest time we've treated Europe like that angry friend who constantly says mean spirited cruel things, but really loves you in the end and will always have your back. When, no, Europe just hates us. Europe plays at being our friend because it needs us but then promptly knifes us in the back and twists it just to hear the sucking sound every chance they get. It's time to be honest with ourselves. It's not us, it's them, and they've been telling us how much they hate us for decades. It's time we believed them. It's time we acted accordingly. None of this applies to Poland. You're cool. Also we like Italy's Prime Minister. She's cool. Żadna z tych rzeczy nie dotyczy Polski. Polska jest spoko. Inoltre, ci piace la Prima Ministra dell’Italia. È cool.
