This is the shot you can’t get from the press site. This camera was sitting a few football fields from the SLS rocket at Pad 39B for days before launch, baking in the Florida sun, surviving rain, humidity, and whatever else the Cape threw at it. No photographer behind the viewfinder. Just a camera, a sound trigger, and a bet. The way pad remotes work: you set your camera up days in advance, dial in your composition, lock everything down, and walk away. You don’t touch it again until after the launch. The shutter fires on sound activation with a @MiopsTrigger smart+ trigger. With SLS, the four RS-25 engines ignite six seconds before the solid rocket boosters, so the camera is already firing before the vehicle even leaves the pad. You get home, pull the card, and find out if you nailed it or if a bird landed on your lens two days ago and left your a present and you got 400 photos of soemthing crappy. There’s no formula for protecting your gear this close. Some photographers build wooden boxes with doors that pop open. Some use plastic bags and tape. Some do plastic or metal barn door rigs on hinges. I tend to leave mine open just in plastic rain covers because boxes limit my composition and setup time, but that means your cameras are more exposed to the elements and whatever energy and debris comes off the pad. You’re basically gambling a camera body every time you set one. That’s what I love about this genre. There’s no playbook. You make it up as you go. Every time is an adventure. 📸 credit: me for @SuperclusterHQ - Artemis II pad remote | ~1,000 ft from Pad 39B | Kennedy Space Center

If I was on Artemis I’d choose the seat that would make me slightly further from Earth than the other astronauts during the moon orbit, but I wouldn’t mention it until the press conference.

@aslyKC @clairecmc Maybe, but Roberts’ “convictions” are also responsible for Citizens United and gutting the Voting Rights Act.

It is painful to listen to Justices of SCOTUS twist themselves in pretzels to ignore the plain text of our Constitution, laws,& precedent. Where o where have the textualists, honor precedent, plain meaning, not legislating from the bench crowd gone? Turns out the “conservative” justices are not conservative.

@jkbjournalist deserves competing Netflix and Hulu documentaries - Fyre Fest style where we all wondered how are they releasing these but we all still watched both. We would not be here or see any files, if not for her reporting. Never stopped asking questions. Never bowed to power. Her name will be in journalism schools for a very long time.

@2024dion Oh hellll na. That’s the For You if you want it, or Facebook. The timeline is a timeline for a reason. Twitter’s original prompt was “what are you doing right now” - every time they forget that this app gets worse.

@DropSiteNews Why? Part of war is public opinion (yes, both sides!) In what world does this benefit anyone, protect anyone or improve that public opinion?

💢 SECOND PHARMA PLANT HIT: Israeli-U.S. Strikes Target Major Medicine Supplier in Western Tehran A second major pharmaceutical facility in western Tehran was struck Tuesday in the latest wave of Israeli-U.S. airstrikes, according to AFP and Al Arabiya reports. 🔹The Daro Bakhsh Pharmaceutical Factory, one of Iran’s oldest and most critical medical production hubs, sustained damage after residents reported “loud explosions” in the area. Full damage assessments are ongoing. The facility produces a significant share of Iran’s domestic medicine supply, including antibiotics, cardiovascular drugs, and intravenous fluids essential for hospital operations. 🔹The strike follows Monday’s attack on Tofigh Daru Research & Engineering Company, which the New York Times and Al Jazeera reported left that facility’s raw material production units and R&D departments “completely destroyed.” Tofigh Daru is one of Iran’s largest producers of active pharmaceutical ingredients for cancer treatments, anesthetics, and narcotics. Two of Iran’s most critical pharmaceutical sites have now been hit within 24 hours.
