The price rise of fuel is due to a shortage of global oil supplies as a result of multiple wars like the Russia-Ukraine War and the Iran war. Now, many developed countries like the US, UK, Australia etc have increased their fuel prices by 20-60%. Compared to that, the rise in India is only about 10%. The government of India is doing its best to maintain a steady supply of oil and gas by looking at alternative sources and increasing the production capacity of LPG. The PM himself has also been one of the first leaders across the globe to even cut down his convoy size in order to make people understand the seriousness of the oil crisis after asking them to reduce the usage of oil as much as possible. It is one thing for you to not promoting these measures of government as Leader of Opposition. But terming PM "Mahangaai Maanav" for a global crisis is like a cat expecting the world to become dark after closing its eyes.

The IRCTC website is completely broken. Every day at 10 AM for tatkal, millions get an error message saying "high load, please retry". When the site finally works at 10:07 AM, all the tickets are sold out. This definitely reeks of corruption. It was not like this even 2 years ago. Please investigate @AshwiniVaishnaw @RailMinIndia

Every line in this piece is a gem. I couldn’t stop taking notes. @maryashakil makes the case that Helle Lyng the #Norwegian journalist who hurled a question about press freedom at the Indian Prime Minister is not the story. She had her two minutes in the sun making a mockery of what good #journalism is. I’d like to add that I don’t trust Press Freedom ratings or for that matter any ratings that come from western countries. Who gives these countries the right to judge everything and everyone? It can’t be one shoe fits all. They don’t know context which means they disrespect the difficulties journalists face in doing good reportage. As for #Norway topping the list, how many Norwegian journalists investigated the #EpsteinFiles once the truth started tumbling out? Several high officials politicians were on the list? Where were the follow ups? Hat 🎩 tip to you dear Marya for calling a spade a spade. I hope your piece will be read in newsrooms and beyond.
Marya Shakil@maryashakil

The story cannot become about the journalist.
A shout is not the same as a question.
And journalism is not performance art. My take on the Helle Lyng controversy, press protocols, and why serious journalism must remain bigger than viral moments. indiatoday.in/opinion/story/… Read here

@RuhiTewari There is not benefit in learning hindi, sanskrit etc class 9 onwards. We have experienced it and it is wasteful effort. This will only create more problems and stress among students. CBSE is filled with brainless political affiliated people who don't care about real education.

What does at least “two native Indian languages” mean? Will all CBSE schools in Delhi be able to offer, say Assamese or Telugu, if a child chooses either of these? Do schools have the capacity to comply? Or will students be forced to learn whatever language is feasible for the school given staffing situation? CBSE needs to stop making these last-minute changes, which the system is clearly ill-equipped to cater to and which add unnecessary stress on young minds & families.

Russia is willing to provide us fuel and gas. Iran too. We were temporarily allowed by US to import oil from Russia. That deadline expired last night. US has not renewed the permission so far. Trump went all the way to China and said he has no problem in China importing oil from Iran. China has not been waiting for his permission and is already doing it. Not only that China is actively helping Iran in it's war against America. Why America should decide who we should buy energy from and by how much? Why India's energy security need to be dictated by America? Now America, Israel and UAE are functioning like a block. Why we should limit our oil dealings only with this block? Be it Russia, Iran or Venezuela- who we buy oil from is based on our requirement. Who is America to decide that?

If you think Rs.3 hike in petrol is high, you're yet to be in sync with reality. If things continue as it is, which looks likely, brace yourselves for very huge hike in prices of fuel and gas. It may probably happen in staggered manner. Things are getting pretty bad globally. We've no significant exports to match the increasing cost of imports. Rupee touching 100 per dollar may happen sooner than expected. Things are bad than what general public understand.
