Just did some updated math on my 180k mile Model S. It’s lifetime average is around 320wh/mi (21” wheels). That means it consumes 57,600kwh of energy. At .14c/kwh that’s about $8k. Now I haven’t actually spent that much because lifetime free supercharging but we will let it slide. A comparable 25mpg gas car would have used 7,200 gallons. Let’s say average price over the last 10 years is $3.25/gallon. That means we would have spent $23,400 in gas so I saved only $15k in fuel vs a 25mpg average vehicle.
At the time of purchase I would have bet we would be at consistent $5/gallon prices for fuel and we did in fact hit that in June of 2022.
😬🤷♂️. Still very happy with the fuel savings. 😬

I honestly do not understand this mentality. Today I picked up a new Model Y Performance, in an area I've never been before. FSD drove me through the city, then 2 hours home WITH ONE INTERVENTION. It was absurdly glorious, and we only have v13.

I’m going to bet that Supervised FSD will become built-in to all Teslas, replacing Autopilot. It will be Unsupervised that requires a subscription. Great point. I think this will happen! It’s just too early for Tesla to mention it. But I think they’re getting really close to achieving Unsupervised.. on paper at least. The partnership with Lemonade also alludes to that since Tesla (through Lemonade insurance) will need to take liability once Unsupervised is released. Due to regulations and jurisdictions, however, I think we’re further away from this than we think.

Tesla needs to make supervised FSD free for everyone. Unsupervised FSD becomes the $99/month tier, and existing FSD owners who paid $8,000+ move into that plan. @Tesla @elonmusk
