A richly deserved honour for @RabbiMorris for his years of service to Jewish cultural and religious life in the City and beyond, and to the cause of building bridges between people of all faiths and none. Under his leadership, @bevismarksuk continues to play an invaluable role in the Square Mile community, as it has done for more than three centuries. I'm especially delighted that its new heritage centre will open early next year, bringing its extraordinary story to countless visitors from across the globe.

Bevis Marks, the UK’s oldest synagogue, was lit up orange last night in London to mark the end of the shiva, the seven-day mourning period, for Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas. May their memories be an eternal blessing. We thank the Hostages and Missing Families Forum UK for this, and their consistent and tireless efforts to advocate on behalf of all those cruelly taken captive by Hamas on October 7th.

We are relieved, thank G-d, to be able to recite Birkat Levana tonight in the @cityoflondon without fear that it could be the last time. Thank you to everyone who spoke out to preserve our ancient congregation’s rights of worship.

It is up there with St Paul’s as the most historically significant religious building in the City of London. The obsession of the City authorities with putting @bevismarksuk in shadow is utterly reprehensible.

Bevis Mark is a British historic treasure as well as a Jewish one. It is a place of great beauty and history. And it is vital that it is protected into the future from looming brutal tower-blocks that will ruin and overshadow this exquisite jewel of British and Jewish history and culture. If the government @AngelaRayner is stepping in to protect it, that is an admirable move; it is what governments are for, amongst others things - to protect places of special value to the nation's culture religion architecture and history. Protect Bevis Marks! A dispute over plans to build a 43-storey office block overshadowing Britain’s oldest synagogue has led the government to step in and say it will consider calls for Angela Rayner to take control of the case. Three are plans to build an office tower about 25m away from the grade I-listed Bevis Marks synagogue near Aldgate in central London, which has been in continuous use since it was built in 1701. thetimes.com/uk/religion/ar…

It's positive to see the Secretary of State call in this application. The proposed development would impact Bevis Marks synagogue, and I have objected to it. I believe this application goes against policies that protect accessibility, inclusivity, and cultural heritage.
