“If Caitlin Clark could play in the NBA, everybody would applaud it. That would be an incredible thing. But if the last guy on the bench of an NBA team went to a WNBA team and started averaging 40 points, everybody would know that is BS." - Legendary Broadcaster Bob Costas Women’s sports should be female ONLY.

@the_transit_guy Cook County should look into something like what Greater London did in 1965: making municipalities & school districts into 200,000 person boroughs

The 133 municipalities in Cook County collectively have the same population as Chicago; meaning 133 separate police departments serve roughly the same number of residents as the Chicago Police Department alone.

None of this is normal None of this happened under Biden Right wingers and fake centrists like to pretend this is what every administration does, but it's not They are robbing the American people - American soldiers have *died* and they use it as an opportunity to get rich

6:49am: sudden spike in oil futures trading. no news. no announcement. nothing public. 7:05am: trump announces a pause on iran strikes. markets move. someone knew. 16 minutes early. $580 million in contracts. the corruption is staggering.

@GrantWehrli @senatorellman @jyangrohr @RepStava_Murray On Zillow, Naperville has 254 homes for sale with only 4 below $200,000. Not because of some natural product of the market but rather because that "long history of planning for the future" is incompatible with capitalism & economic freedom

I'm sure @senatorellman @jyangrohr and @RepStava_Murray who have zero land planning experience will support this 100%. Naperville has a long history of planning for the future and they are about to throw it all out the window because JB tells them to.

We need to stop prioritizing parking lots over people. Today, I assembled a roundtable to discuss our Building Up Illinois Developments Plan — and the consensus was that we need to act fast. Looking forward to passing it and getting to work in our neighborhoods.

🚨Big news: Washington state just enacted a *full ban* on noncompete agreements. Noncompetes hurt wages, reduce entrepreneurship, and harm innovation—in addition to the obvious: impeding competition. Banning them is pro-worker, pro-growth, pro-dynamism policy.

@conncarroll That provides a good explanation, primarily in the NASBO's All Other category (60% of Illinois's spending vs 2% for Texas)

California state government spends $12,556 per person. New York $11,742. Illinois $9,893. Meanwhile Texas spends just $4,849 per person. Florida $5,056. Georgia $5,563. What are blue state tax payers getting with this spending? Better services? Better roads? Better schools?

@_fat_ugly_rat_ Illinois has enough of its high school state tournaments in Bloomington-Normal, good location for where people/interstates are, to make me think if we were picking state capitals from scratch, IL may just go with Bloomington-Normal

Something that gets overlooked in the Birth Rates discourse is that childlessness is down and falling. 16% of 45 year old women have no children, the lowest in 25 years. A woman born in 1982 is as likely to have a child as woman born in 1923 was!

The media constantly tone polices Democrats and demands they act in a bipartisan manner but never apply that same requirement to Republicans. It's one of the most glaring double standards in politics.

Texas is the clean energy capital of the United States. And a chunk of that is because of their easy permitting, relatively ample transmission, and highly deregulated electricity market. Abundance thinking in energy works.
Daniel Gross@grossdm

Pretty astonishing. In Texas, between 10:00 am and 4:00 p.m., 80-90% of electricity comes from carbon free sources. And storage is already a significant contributor in the early morning and evening

Honestly, this is how I felt about Joe Biden's presidency. I saw a nation returning to normalcy, w/sound gov't that dealt w/ the recession, the pandemic, spurred employment and people were out, about and spending again. It was a good situation but too many didn't appreciate it.
