The attack occurred while the couple was returning from Okene, Kogi State. According to reports, the assailants opened fire on their vehicle, k*lling the general on the spot. The driver survived by pretending to be dead. The gunmen then took the officer’s wife from the scene. Before his death, Maj. Gen. Ahmed served as a director at Army Headquarters after being appointed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya. He previously held the role of Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army.
