Pacific as in not fighting the British or Chinese or Soviets. Also, “the rest” part of your comment is caused by allied bombing and destruction of axis logistics.

@MattisRedacted This is a technicality. The locals did rebuilt but with US help and US money. That also strengthened European institutions. While in Iraq all the "building" was done by US contractors. All the money had much more strings attached. The US was also pro poppy farms in Afghanistan.

@GusWarren9 @MattisRedacted 1) the USA spent more than britain but like 98% of it was on itself. 2) britain and framce were fighting japan while everyone else wasn't, americans don't recognise other theatres they weren't in, not just in WW2 3) militarily it lost more men while killing less axis troops.

France and others would’ve been quite able to pay it back if America wanted. I think most of the heavy lifting was done by Europeans themselves.
