Global health is at an inflexion point—shrinking funding, geopolitical pressures, and fragmentation are testing the institutions and partnerships that have driven progress. Yet this disruption is also an opportunity to turn reform ideas into action. Join @Devex for a Pro Briefing with @DonaldKaberuka on what a more resilient global health architecture could look like as aid recedes. 🗓 Fri, 20 Mar 2026 | 🕓 4:00 PM Kigali (CAT/UTC+2) 🎙 Moderated by Rumbi Chakamba devex.com/events/reimagi…

Sorry a little late to the discussion. It is good to express your frustration about the challenges of life like youth unemployment, cost of living (the hallmark and strength of youth) but the tone was definitely unnerving. The world is experiencing very challenging times and we are not spared. As a young person you aren’t responsible for “toning down” your frustration but indangagaciro zacu zidusaba gushishoza neza nokugira umutima wo gushaka ibisubizo. This country is built on that very concept. With the social media trend yo gutwika what is a cry for help can be quickly co-opted negatively. We must always be the generation that finds solutions apana abantu batukana kuri social media. And us older folks must lead the way. I hope all of us practice refusing to be rage baited all the time. That toxic energy that says nothing works in this country must be rejected every time even as we give rightful feedback. Let’s roll up our sleeves to solve these problems. The real activist says what I can do, not how many followers did I get today. Remember we have faced harder challenges in this country and overcome - that is the basis of our optimism and the driver of our hard work. Mugire amahoro!

As always, grateful for a rich conversation with @CatyFondsmond of @GlobalFund on the evolving funding landscape—and what it means for African leadership & country ownership. Our shared focus: how #Africa can use every dollar by boosting efficiency & mobilizing domestic financing, while countries lead & learn from one another. We believe #Africa can—and must—own and deliver its #health agenda, strengthen results, & build long-term resilience 4 healthier, more productive populations and sustained growth. #AfrikaKwanza #GlobalHealthReform

Kenya Met Department 🇰🇪
🦟 MALARIA EPIDEMIC EARLY WARNING – WESTERN KENYA HIGHLANDS (NOVEMBER 2025) @MeteoKenya 🇰🇪, in collaboration with @MOH_Kenya and @KEMRI_Kenya, has released the Malaria Epidemic Early Warning Prediction System for the Western Kenya Highlands, covering Kakamega, Kisii, and Nandi Counties. This data-driven system integrates climate and environmental indicators—including temperature and rainfall trends—to forecast the likelihood of malaria epidemics and support early health action. 📊 Forecast Summary (Nov–Dec 2025): 🌿 Kakamega: High Risk of Malaria Epidemic (above 30% threshold) 🌿 Kisii: No Risk 🌿 Nandi: No Risk The results emphasize how climate information can strengthen health preparedness, allowing local health authorities and communities to plan preventive measures, distribute mosquito nets, enhance awareness, and prepare health facilities before peak transmission periods. This early warning effort represents a strong partnership between Kenya’s meteorological, health, and research institutions, aligning with the country’s goal to advance climate-informed health services. 📄 Read the full bulletin here: 🔗 meteo.go.ke/our-products/m… How the system works This Malaria Early Warning System combines temperature and rainfall data to estimate the risk of malaria transmission. When rainfall and temperature rise above certain thresholds, mosquito breeding and parasite development increase — raising the risk of outbreaks. @MeteoKenya’s models analyze these trends and share predictions with @MOH_Kenya & @KEMRI_Kenya to guide preventive action before epidemics occur. #HealthSecurity #EarlyWarningSystems #ClimateServices Why this matters Early warning = early action. By predicting malaria risk, health authorities can: ✅ Distribute mosquito nets early ✅ Mobilize communities ✅ Prepare health facilities ✅ Prevent avoidable illness and deaths This partnership between climate, health, and research institutions is a key step in achieving climate-resilient health systems in Kenya. 🌍💪 📣 Follow the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) for verified updates: 🌐 Website: meteo.go.ke 📱 WhatsApp Channel: whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va… 🐦 X (Twitter): x.com/MeteoKenya 📘 Facebook: facebook.com/KenyaMeteorolo… 📞 Contact Us: Tel: 0724 155153 / 0724 155154 Email: director@meteo.go.ke | info@meteo.go.ke #MalariaAwareness #ClimateHealth #EarlyWarning #MeteoKenya #HealthSecurity #KEMRI #Kenya

On the sidelines of Nigeria’s National Health Financing Dialogue, I met H.E. Amb @amma_twumamoah the AU Commissioner for @AU_HHS. We agreed to explore collaboration for the @_AfricanUnion to drive the #malaria agenda—AU-led, country-owned, locally tailored. Priorities: strong MoH & NMCP leadership; partner alignment behind one country plan; efficient, sustainable financing tied to national priorities; data → delivery & cross-border coordination; plus transparency & accountability so every $ delivers impact. Together, we can protect households, strengthen systems, and #EndMalaria across Africa. #Nigeria leading with bold vision to make changes! #Africa #UHC #CountryOwnership #ValueForMoney #DataToDelivery
