@josesaezmerino @theo I suspect that many users (myself included) are almost always running maximized, at least on laptops. So any crumbs of vertical are great. Also, many websites artificially limit content width anyway, so more horizontal spaces is just a dead zone.

@theo In most browsers the tabs don’t eat up enough vertical space to be an issue imo but I can see a tab sidebar being fine for people who maximize their browsers. My browser windows are always pretty narrow for multitasking so vertical tabs eat up a lot of space

Age verification is a Trojan horse for total control over the internet, your devices, and your entire digital life. Not a single child will be protected by this. If people don't wake up and protest, your country is going to be next.

My iPhone just updated itself. I keep turning this off then get endless messages to update it and an irritating red circle on the screen. Now this has appeared. Since when is it law to prove your age to use your own phone???? Way beyond your remit now @GOVUK

Ubuntu is removing a huge number of supported file systems from their shipping version of the GRUB boot loader. LVM, LUKS, btrfs, hfsplus, xfs, zfs, & mdraid. All are being removed and will no longer be available for booting systems. Once again, tried and true code is being tossed out. This time in favor of systemd for booting. They are also disabling images (like JPG) in GRUB. Because, assumedly, Ubuntu hates joy. discourse.ubuntu.com/t/streamlining…

What is the point of insurance, even? My glasses broke last week- it’s been almost two years since I had an eye exam, so I scheduled an appointment for this afternoon. I went through the whole process, only to find at the end that the exam itself was $45, and the ugly glasses, with no glare reduction, coatings of any type at all, single vision, etc…. Are $321. I literally just paid the exam copay, and left. So I just paid for a service I can’t even utilize, when I am having trouble putting groceries on the table. Note: I am coke bottle glasses near-sided. I cannot drive, cook, etc, without my glasses. Like- why isn’t this covered by my insurance? This is worse than the fact that dental care isn’t covered. This is what I mean when I say I am tired of living this way. What is the point of this?

@ScoobyCarolan @Apple @FrameworkPuter Framework doesn't have the same level of polish. I use both. When the Mac breaks it's dead. When Framework breaks, I'll replace a $10 part and keep on trucking. If you want more than a joke's worth of RAM (but just a little while it's pricey) you can upgrade the Framework. Not Mc

@KeenanPeachy "I can't be bothered to train my children to fold their laundry the way I want it folded. So instead I'm going to spend 10 or 15 times longer than necessary on a task. I acknowledge that this is a problem, but I'm going to ignore that, & spend over 7% of my life folding laundry."

This is way, WAY too much folding. Folding clothes for multiple little kids is a complete waste of time and will eat your entire day. Folded stacks fail the instant they make contact with a child's hands anyway. Fold the big stuff. Hang the nice stuff. The rest is in God's hands.

It is so hilariously obvious that the optimal arrangement for airlines is to offer a free checked bag and charge for overhead bin space
