@nickcammarata Also, if you're anxious, see if you're bored or uncertain first - I found that sometimes, I'd say, "I'm anxious" when in reality, I was uncomfortable with boredom, silence, etc.

@DiabolicalSpuds This not surprising at all sorry. Sufjan speaks directly to the heart of all smart white christian midwestern boys
English

@LarryKellogg @chiakithedog @DylanoA4 Life is not that absurd imo. You work to improve the future of yourself and those around you. Life can actually be quite long, so it’s not absurd at all to try to make the best of it
English

@chiakithedog @DylanoA4 Happy because the work of men is for men. Although his life is absurd, and all he builds will be destroyed, there is joy and meaning in the struggle.

@Triceratops235 @PotCzach Drive thru at Dunkin said “see you tomorrow!” while handing me my drink, had to take a break from going there for a while
English

@oracleofoahu1 @313formation My problem is I’m interested in too many things so I get 1% better at some random thing everyday but I’m only really good at like 2 things and not even cracked at them
English

@313formation you can literally be 40x better at something after a year if you improve by 1% a day
English

@NathanpmYoung Once you start to realize cognitive dissonance is your friend, that’s when you can really be open minded
Some things people say will still upset you, but you have to learn to recognize the feeling of being upset because it’s evil or stupid, or upset because they might be correct
English

@3mu7yod @jdcmedlock I think more specifically it’s that nobody pays attention to the *actual* immigration rate, so they just assumes it varies with the party office
So they think Trump was keeping it too low and Biden was letting too many people in, regardless of the actual facts
English

@coldhealing I work at more of a 4-5 green circles at 10pm every weeknight type of company
English

@rieszspieces Do homework part is fine but always hated professors who made attendance part of the grade. If your lecture is useful that should be incentive enough for showing up
Exceptions are participation-oriented classes, then it’s understandable
English

i was checking the rmp reviews on my favorite professor (who isn't particularly tough, but he does demand a lot and he probably teaches the hardest classes my college offers), and all the negative reviews were like "he makes you come to lecture and do your homework"
Armand Domalewski@ArmandDoma
the fact that students routinely give worse ratings to “tougher” teachers while “tougher” teachers routinely improve student learning outcomes more is a good example of how the “customer knows best” aspect of capitalism isn’t universally applicable

@Big_Worker @bendreyfuss Bigger surprise than Oprah feels like it mustn’t just be an actor/actress, singer, or even athlete who are gonna be predictable Dems. Has to be either a well-known Republican or else a HUGE star like Beyoncé/Taylor
English

@bendreyfuss They're saying it's bigger than Oprah, hopefully they have some rough grasp of how famous different celebrities are
English

everyone is like "TAYLOR SWIFT?"
But it's going to be something way worse than that. It will be like three former cast members of the West Wing reading the Bill of Rights or something.
..@OperDJT
Being told there is a “DNC Surprise” guest that will blow people away this evening.
English

@bendreyfuss This is my whole issue with Chicago it seems perfectly fine but what’s the point we have NY and LA already
English

@urbanecowboy @bendreyfuss A lot of white collar companies had their employees stay home, so that could be a factor why it doesn’t feel as crowded as you expect
English

@littmath I’m generally anti-pirating (in theory at least) but find it hard to say why it’s even wrong at all in this case
You’re not hurting the author bc they’re not getting paid. You’re only hurting the distributor…. when you don’t need the distribution service anyway bc it’s online
English

@B0mbadiI @MostlyMonkey Yes, basically if you make it so you don’t need to be managed, the people in charge see that and you naturally become a promotion candidate
Have seen perfectly competent people fail because they do their work well but don’t take ownership of it
English

@MostlyMonkey A lot more than I expected was simply showing up and taking ownership.
English

@MostlyMonkey isn’t it like 20% iq and 80% being nice and talking to other people though?
English

@FreyaP11 @DylanoA4 Yes it’s hard to explain because the grief is always going to be a source of pain and sadness. But to me the joy comes from the fact that in order to experience those emotions I have to be human, the still open wounds are evidence of being, and that is beautiful and joyful
English

@relax4balance @DylanoA4 It takes work to find yes but once you find it it’s not too hard to go back to
English

@DylanoA4 To attain Joy is an active process. You have to put work into achieving it, and you have to be open to receive it. You can't just sit around and whine about wanting Joy because you feel down and miserable. It takes work, that brings the great, priceless reward of feeling Happy.☀️

@Kmsesper @Elect_Right @TyIerG_ @OldRowSwig I agree it’s pretty weak evidence and not sufficient, but “a similar law has gone beyond its original purpose before” is relevant enough evidence to avoid the logical fallacy.
English

@Kmsesper @Elect_Right @TyIerG_ @OldRowSwig OP did though, providing the income tax example as evidence. Whether that evidence is sufficient is again related to the quality of the argument, not the logic of it
English

@da24421 @Elect_Right @TyIerG_ @OldRowSwig Bro. That’s exactly what the fallacy is though. The OP has provided no proof that it will become broader if you do the limited version
