Do some churches not offer confession during Holy Week? If so no wonder we were so busy. I was in the confessional for just under three hours this afternoon and my parochial vicar for nearly two.

@JaneLebak That looks better than what the bunnies have done to all my bushes. A couple years ago they killed several trees.

@UcheMaryOkoli Not me. I change it up every Mass just to make things exciting. The dirty looks I get for sitting in other people's seat are priceless.

I do appreciate the irony of the No Kings protests the week before billions around the world celebrate the King of all Kings.

Wow, 9 million+ Americans saying NO to monarchy, extremism, and endless wars This is what a republic looks like people actually using their voice instead of just complaining online. Whether you love or hate Trump, respect to anyone peacefully marching for peace. Hope the message actually reaches the top.

🚨 Official count confirmed: More than 8 million people participated in No Kings Day today. One of the largest single-day demonstrations in American history. 3,000 cities. Every state. Every coast. Philadelphia. Atlanta. Dallas. St. Paul. DC. San Francisco. San Diego. New York. London. Tel Aviv. Scotland. And counting. To put 8 million in context: The Women’s March in 2017 — the previous record — drew an estimated 3-5 million. Today more than doubled it. 8 million Americans didn’t just protest today. They sent a message that cannot be ignored, cannot be dismissed, and cannot be spun. The founders settled the kings question in 1776. 8 million Americans settled it again today.

@shanksbala @allenanalysis The same reason we've been in all "conflicts" for the past 60 or so years. Because Congress agrees with it enough not to do anything about it.

@CatholicHerald Surely THIS time the pope's unambiguous statement will put this question to rest and every Catholic will finally assent to the Church's perennial teaching for good

@BrandonStraka That's how loans work. Interest payments are front loaded. 30 years of debt costs a lot.

An American buys a $138K home and sends $9,286 to the bank. Only $952 hits the principal. Over $8,300 goes to interest, taxes, and insurance. Feels less like ownership—and more like a system stacked against you.

@dcpetterson I've had to replace my DL and SS card after they were stolen. It's a bitch because SSA want your DL and DL wants you SS card. Neither would accept my state issued birth certificate.

@CrownMaybe Considering Protestants are roughly 50% of the population and Catholics are only about 20%, there isn't all that much of a difference between the former and latter numbers.

I've joked for a long time that we tend to get the Protestants who formally and rigorously study early Church history and lose the Catholics who are functionally Pelagians and can't be fixed until someone does it radically; the latter is much greater than the former.
Ryan Burge 📊@ryanburge

Empirically speaking: The movement from Catholic --> Protestant is way larger than the opposite direction. In the 1970s: 8% of Catholics became Protestants 3% of Protestants became Catholic. In the 2020s: 12% of Catholics -> Protestants 3% of Protestants -> Catholic

Chat GPT story: The other day in an interaction here on X, a man posted about a Catholic priest. Publicly stated that this Priest was not in ministry because his faculties had been taken away by the bishop. As any rational priesthood, that Priest freaked out and said it was a lie. The man who posted the accusation, then showed the ChatGPT conversation where the AI confidently, and in detail explained that the priest had some of his faculties revoked. It was 100% a fabrication. it feels like a lot of people are using that AI & it unnerves me. That same AI confidently described me as a priest in a diocese I don’t minister in, assigned to a job I’ve never been assigned to and having written books I’ve never written. As for @grok he’s helped me rebuild an engine and today, we should be able to start it.

@JaneLebak The same happens in schools too. It's crazy. If ya feel the need to report it the Bishop, fine, but only after going to the police.

It might be nice to send a copy of the police report to the bishop, I guess, but I can't see that it's necessarily required. If a gas station attendant steals my wallet, I'm calling the cops, not Mobil. If a teacher firebombs my house, I'm calling the cops, not the school board.
