SpaceX has acquired xAI Elon's letter: "The basic math is that launching a million tons per year of satellites generating 100 kW of compute power per ton would add 100 gigawatts of AI compute capacity annually, with no ongoing operational or maintenance needs. Ultimately, there is a path to launching 1 TW/year from Earth." For context, the entire U.S. currently generates 1.3 TW. "My estimate is that within 2 to 3 years, the lowest cost way to generate AI compute will be in space. Factories on the Moon can take advantage of lunar resources to manufacture satellites and deploy them further into space. By using an electromagnetic mass driver and lunar manufacturing, it is possible to put 500 to 1000 TW/year of AI satellites into deep space, meaningfully ascend the Kardashev scale and harness a non-trivial percentage of the Sun’s power. The capabilities we unlock by making space-based data centers a reality will fund and enable self-growing bases on the Moon, an entire civilization on Mars and ultimately expansion to the Universe. Can India ever build a world-class product? Yes. We already did. It’s called UPI. Launched in 2016, UPI transformed payments by making money transfer as easy as sending a text. It’s real-time, interoperable across banks and apps, free for users, and scaled to a level few products globally can match. In FY25, UPI processed 185.8 billion transactions worth over ₹260 lakh crore. It commands 83% of India’s digital payment volume. In August 2025 alone, UPI crossed 20 billion transactions in a single month. Over 675 banks and 65 crore QR codes are live on UPI. India now accounts for nearly half of the world’s real-time payments volume. Why is it world-class? Because it’s simple, reliable, inclusive, and built as digital public infrastructure. From small street vendors to billion-dollar companies, everyone uses it. The lesson for every founder: a product doesn’t have to be complicated — it has to be useful, frictionless, and scalable. UPI is India’s proof that world-class products can be built here, for billions, and inspire the world. 👉 If you’re building something new, aim for the UPI mindset: make it simple, make it for everyone, and scale without limits.
