@graeme_cobb We will be taking a look. Only another 160k miles to go before we would normally look to change. There may be other factors that drive this though.
English

@desmoderby EV version may provide more space inside so it’s worth a look.

BYD is serious about its Flash Charging stations - U.K. rollout soon.
Next, their cars will follow with Flash capability.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on a 5 minute charge to 80% and 9 minutes to 97% from 10% SoC?
Will it convince you to switch to electric or is it too quick?
ThinkerCar@thinkercar
A large batch of BYD flash charging piles and flash charging energy storage cabinets has rolled off the production line, including units packaged and ready for shipment to Germany. #BYD #FlashCharging #GermanyEV #EnergyStorage

@graeme_cobb The only issue for me is the two boys we have at the moment are more comfortable in the Superb. Octavia is tight. We will see.
English

@desmoderby Definitely need many more estate EV options.

@Fireblade_Jim @OfficialBSB @Oulton_Park @jm130tt @deanharrisonTT @HondaRacingUK Enjoy. I am sure you will make it enjoyable for her. Our grandson loves bikes started home early as well.
Whilst I will watch on TV there is another potential Nike to see.
English

My littlest princess is having her first day at @OfficialBSB & @Oulton_Park today.
Hoping we see @jm130tt @deanharrisonTT and @HondaRacingUK

@YorkCityFC A hotspot for drug use. What a fine example you're setting to your young supporters.
English

🇪🇸 Just a quick heads up...
As well as the players, EVERY club employee is going to Ibiza.
The club shop and offices will be shut until Wednesday morning.
We will see you then! 🤣

@AutoPap Oh, and I forgot Grindlewald. Take the bus and go away from the Eigwr. Almost no one else there and absolutely stunning. If you are interested I will ask my friend who live there and get exact details for you.
English

@tiff_tv We watch without sound. It just works better for us. I don’t like contrived racing (overtakes), but that’s what it is now. Drivers all excellent though now (maybe a couple if exceptions) in my opinion.
English

@mrdanwalker We had one who reverted to being a puppy (and messing everywhere) when we returned from two weeks holiday. Mum and Dad said both had been as good as gold whilst they had them.
English

@Sacha_Lord @Keir_Starmer If only they had delivered on the support they had (have). It is truly shocking to see business that have been established for many years stop trading for what ever reason.
English

@Keir_Starmer You’ve taken away young people’s jobs in Hospitality. 120,000 redundancies since you formed a Govt, the vast majority are 18-24 year olds who would have a part time job to help them through college. It’s unforgivable.
English

@graeme_cobb @ctrlaltrefuel A journey (and return) I make regularly I set the cruse control when I get on the M3 and don’t disengage it until I approach the roundabout to get off the M1 at J24. It just works. I don’t like where the lane assist positions the car so I don’t use it.

I use ADAS with LKA on long boring road trips. It’s brilliant and a welcome additional set of eyes looking out all the time ready to react.
I see them as safety features rather than driver aids.
For my commutes I prefer not to use it as the motorway is so extremely busy.
If the U.K. ever allows supervised autonomy I will give this a go on my commutes purely because I see so many crashes almost daily on that stretch that I want all safety features on, active and ready.

Yesterday I collected a Gen2 Nissan Leaf and drove it home roughly 100 miles through some very wet UK weather.
You know, the super-heavy late spring downpours.
Visibility down to almost nothing at times. People driving far too fast and too close, and mostly with no lights on or no rear lights on.
The Leaf has decent smart cruise control, which was a great help, as I didn’t also have to micro-monitor my speed and distance to the cars in front too on the motorway. But there’s no Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). I’m so used to having it in my usual car/cars that I genuinely didn’t realise how much I relied on it in such conditions … until it wasn’t there.
For 100 miles I was constantly making tiny steering corrections. Eyes glued to the road. Trying to read the oft-faded, spray-covered lane markings that kept disappearing under rivers and puddles of water. At one point the lane was so poorly defined I had to slow down and focus hard.
Also no CarPlay meant I was relying on. Nissan’s (ahem) adequate ancient Sat Nav.
It was tiring and the trip felt like I had done a lot more miles-but also strangely enlightening.
Don’t get me wrong — the Leaf itself was alright. Quiet, comfortable, efficient even in those conditions. But that missing LKA made me appreciate just how much modern ADAS features are quietly doing the heavy lifting in bad weather.
It left me with two big thoughts :
1: People really don’t know that their ‘auto-lights’ stetting DOES NOT always/often turn on the rear lights, and so many cars were almost invisible in the spray.
2. These systems aren’t just “nice to have” — in proper British rain /bad conditions, they can be a genuine safety net.
3. Are we becoming too reliant on them? Or is this exactly the direction we should be heading as EVs get smarter?
4) If it didn’t have Smart Cruise, it would have been even more tiring.
I know the two other @ctrlaltrefuel presenters reading this will be saying “tsk, just drive yourself idiot, we don’t need any of that nonsense! (they are professional HGV drivers) and Petchelli turns everything ‘off’ completely on his eV, and this always surprises me -as the more I drive (which is a fair bit as a car dealer) the less I want to have to do everything all the time.
We’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
Have you driven an EV (or any car) without LKA in horrible weather? Did you miss it as much as I did?

@Fireblade_Jim @RacingArmchair Lecouna did give him reasonable competition in race 2. Olivera is getting to grips with the BMW but was involved in a big crash in the super pole race this morning and declared unfit to race. Other bikes seem miles off the pace to me.
English

@RacingArmchair Yeh not bothered either, especially when BSB is back this weekend.
Not bulegas fault and I’m not even Ducati bashing but he clearly needs to be in gp if the difference is this bad.
English

Didn’t watch it. Glad I didn’t bother. Knew who would win. Don’t even care if it was a good race.

@OswaldsFool @SBarrettBar Had similar at Sainsbury’s with a self scan shop when they had to scan those trolley. When we said ok we will leave it we were allowed to pay and leave.
English

@SBarrettBar When we had some delivered here the driver was happy to hand it to me as looked old enough. Mind you, I am 66.

@BenInRushcliffe I will give you Trump but my limited understanding is that all the others listed were known.

Whatever happens to Keir Starmer, he was dealt with the hardest cards of any PM in my lifetime. Brexit, immigration, Ukraine war, Trump, Covid impact, blood scandal, Windrush, miners pensions, every public service in crisis...

One of the most extraordinary graphs I have ever seen.
English

@TrisOsborneMP Luckily we have had ours (and a battery)for 5 years now and we normally only pay the standing charge for electrify from April to September. With a plug in hybrid and cheap rate electricity really helps. Just doubling battery storage now. Not everyone can afford them though.
English

@dave43law The only “thing” that is bleeding me dry is Keir Starmers Government.
