@mattparlmer Iron Dome isn’t used to intercept ballistic missiles. Thus your statement is correct but irrelevant. Overall 90%+ intercepted seems to be a good ratio but Arrow 3 (and other interceptors) struggle with missiles that get to the terminal phase.

Turns out Iron Dome only works reliably against upcycled plumbing on ballistic trajectories and cannot handle a degraded radar picture and payloads that can do hypersonic terminal maneuvers

@ramez a good proxy for the latter is GDP / population density I remember someone on a certain mailing list running the numbers a couple decades back, and yep, Australia Canada US doubt much has changed

@djinnius The number I really want to generate per country is oil and oil product consumption as a percent of GDP. That, I think, is a key metric to determine vulnerability to oil price spikes.

I'm extremely confused by the "Iran will show their true power level soon" posts. Like, the entire leadership and chain of command was killed on day one, with an enormous amount of lead-up, like the most clearly signaled intention possible. Israel hacked every camera in Tehran. In June of last year, Mossad was inside of Iran, shutting down anti-aircraft sites, and Israel killed like 20 or 30 commanders and generals, along with a bunch of nuclear scientists. I simply don't believe there's some kind of Super Saiyan in reserve, because what are you waiting for? None of this makes any sense. It seems entirely fabricated. Extreme cope.
