@stocktradingmon @EpsilonTheory I had a panel of blood tests done a couple of months ago. Fair number of tests, but none were new or exotic. Over $3k billed, with my insurance covering just over half of that. And I pay ~$850/mo for insurance for my wife and myself (no kids). It's insane.

@EpsilonTheory Technically you are getting more benefits. Medical technology advances every year - better drugs, better tests, better treatments etc.

We just got the renewal notice for our company's healthcare policy: +12% Last 3 years premium increases, with zero changes in coverage or benefits: 2026: +12% 2025: +5% 2024: +16% I'd be angry if I thought it would make any difference. This system is so fucking broken.

Kind, thoughtful, always offered to lend a hand. And threw epic cookouts.

The past few days have shown Israel is far superior militarily to any of its likely adversaries in the Middle East. That being the case, why do we need to continue providing them with approximately $3 billion in military aid per year? Why do we need to help them take out Fordow when their own National Security Advisor said they could handle it on their own? This is not to say we shouldn't maintain close defensive and intelligence ties with Israel. However, we are entering a period in which there will be fewer resources to go around; with a potential conflict in the Pacific looming and an active war in Ukraine that our European allies could become involved in. The national debt also isn't going away. We have to pick and choose our fights carefully and the tendency of many of my center-right compatriots to back Israel's courses of action without question should be critically examined. Indeed, this tendency of unwavering support may be leading Israel to pursue a more aggressive foreign policy than would otherwise be the case. Is the US public going to be presented with the evidence that shows Iran was a matter of days from achieving nuclear weapons? This would seem to contradict previous statements from the Trump administration's intelligence community's assessment that Iran was not actively pursuing nuclear weapons, and if they did decide to do so, the timeline for achieving a functional weapon was years, not days or months.

I have a theory that everyone consumed a piece of media between 9-13 years old that is the foundation of their entire worldview. Everything they learnt since was stacked on top of this. It's a great dinner question to ask people.
