The last three years of low crude prices didn't help Indian consumers (we kept the petrol price the same) Who made money? The govt, and the oil cos. The largest oil retail co, has more than 82,000 cr. in collective profits since FY24 to now. They should take the hit now.

Pune’s disastrous traffic situation is a classic case of the broken window effect. The system has collapsed because small violations became normalised. Every single day, thousands break basic traffic rules with absolutely no fear of consequences. And why would they? Traffic police are barely visible & enforcement is practically nonexistent. Admin washes their hands off by saying Punekars have no regard for the traffic laws. It’s easy blame the people for all civic failures! x.com/shambhavipatha…

PM is coming to BLR tomorrow, and roads are already blocked throughout the city. Traffic is insane. If you're a VIP, behave like one and land at the venue via a chopper. If you want to behave like a common man, commute like one. Inconveniencing others is utterly stupid.

1. Govt refuses to divulge the ARAI report that studied the effects of E20 petrol on Indian vehicles. An RTI seeking the same was filed by Mr. Nachiket Deshpande. 2. Over 80 % of petrol powered vehicles - both cars and two wheelers - running on Indian roads are NOT compliant with E20 petrol. Compliance here refers to both material and full compliance! 3. If there's nothing to hide, why not reveal the effects of E20 petrol on older vehicles? 4. If there are indeed adverse effects caused by E20 petrol - as suspected and experienced by many - why are there no separate nozzles at petrol bunks for non-E20 petrol? 5. If ARAI has found out that E20 petrol causes adverse effects on specific brands of vehicles, is it not the right of vehicle owners to know this, and be able to access non-E20 fuel? Any answers Mr. @HardeepSPuri @nitin_gadkari @PetroleumMin ? @CarToq @nachiket1982 cartoq.com/car-news/india…

BJP Corporator in BMC @MNarwekar has raised a loot in the BMC A Rs. 62 crore tender for the installation of LED lights beneath city skywalks was awarded to a firm blacklisted by the Thane Municipal Corporation. The very same lights available for Rs. 700 on the Government e-Marketplace were procured by the BMC at Rs. 9,600 per unit. He has asked, “How does a blacklisted firm get awarded such a high ticket contract? Who approved this? And why were Mumbai’s taxpayers made to pay nearly 14 times the market price?” A report on the same has to be now presented within 15 days.

In Mumbai we are at the point - where we don't need any NEW infrastructure projects to get started. We just need to complete the existing ones. And focus on making the city liveable for the majority. Slum Redevelopment/Open Spaces/Trees/Footpaths/Cleanliness.

I read Sajjid Chinoy's piece today, and some of the things are on the lines of what he has spoken to me through the years. Its a good time to get a reminder/refresher 'course'. Here's a short thread on his latest take. Hope its useful - (1/6) The world is no longer going through temporary turbulence. Trade wars, geopolitical conflicts & AI disruption are the new normal. For India, the question isn't if shocks will come — it's how ready are we when they do?

I think India will get solved with just 2 things: 1. Cleanliness: Clean the streets. Punish the litterers. 2. Respect: Treat the citizen with respect. FIRs are lodged. Complaints are addressed. Every government official has a body cam. Just two things. Can be done in two years.

This isn’t a new idea. It’s a practical, ready solution. A 10.5m land strip within the MSRDC land parcel at Napean Sea Rd can be restored as a public utility road to enable: • A 2-lane (10.5m) exit only rd from Coastal Rd • Directly connecting Napean Sea Rd & Malabar Hill

Between Gadkari aggressively pushing water guzzling Ethanol as the future of fuel and the govt gifting 166 sq. km of thick forested area to Adani for the Great Nicobar project in a water stressed and heating up at an alarming rate country, how hopeless do we feel!

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia : “I don’t use AC in my car, I don’t sit in an air-conditioned environment, and I just carry an onion to beat the heat in summer.” He lives in Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior, which has more than 400 rooms, where hundreds of air conditioners are installed. He owns multiple luxury cars, all equipped with high-end air conditioning. His government office in Delhi is also fully air-conditioned. This is nothing but mocking poor people who cannot afford air conditioners in their homes. Instead of working to improve their economic conditions so they too can afford such comforts, he is misleading and fooling poor people 🤡

Yes, cats really do clock the difference. The wiring behind it is mammal-wide and ancient, and Konrad Lorenz mapped it back in 1943. Lorenz, an Austrian biologist, noticed that babies of pretty much every mammal look kind of similar. Big head, big eyes set low on the face, small nose, chubby cheeks. He called it the baby schema. Any face hitting those proportions trips a switch in the brain’s reward circuit. Same circuit that fires when you eat something delicious or hear your favorite song. Oxford researchers nailed down the timing in 2008. Using a brain scanner that tracks activity down to the millisecond, they showed that adults’ reward circuits light up in roughly a seventh of a second when a baby’s face appears. All before you’ve consciously processed who you’re looking at. It also works across species. Swiss researchers showed in 2013 that just looking at puppy faces for a few minutes shifts how cute adults then rate human baby photos. The brain is using the same wiring to judge cuteness in both. Stand baby chimps, gorillas, orangutans, and human babies side by side and they all share the same proportions: rounder face, bigger eyes lower in the head. Mammals are born with this response. Now add sound. Cats hear high pitches that humans can’t reach. Their best hearing range happens to be where kitten distress calls live, and right where the harshest pitches of a human baby’s cry land. Both sounds pull on the same alarm. Researchers writing in Nature in 2023 traced the exact brain pathway in mice that releases oxytocin, the bonding hormone, when a mother hears her pups cry. The hearing region of the brain wires straight into the part that controls hormones, and similar wiring shows up across mammals. So when a cat sits next to a toddler and stays calm, the explanation runs back hundreds of millions of years. Soft thing, big head, high-pitched noises, do not attack.

There is a good reason for this @AshwiniBhide ma’am. Please do look into this- unless Sayani road is made no-parking and pavements are cleared- it is on the way to become Ranade road!! Please tell us how citizens can help. Also please note that all of Appasaheb Marathe Marg and side lanes are now exclusive Tanker Parking areas. Unless parking rules are implemented roads can never be free. Also auto dealers need to build parking costs into business - give them a monthly pass ! And discount for night parking to tankers! Tell us how citizens can help! @mybmcWardGS @mybmcInfra @mybmc Mumbai 400025

Near Motilal Oswal Tower, a fully built pay-and-park facility with space for 1,058 cars has remained shut for over a year, even as residents continue struggling with severe parking shortages daily. When mid-day visited, the site was ready but locked with guards outside. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation blamed contractor issues, saying a new contractor will be appointed, but locals remain frustrated by the delay. ✍🏻/📷: Sarthak Mehta
