Some banks do make such calls sadly. But this advice is still sound: assume it is a thief and hang up. It will find a way to contact you that doesn’t sound like a thief. If you want to check, call your bank on a number you find on a piece of paper and ask. That may take some time

If anybody calls out of the blue about your bank account it is a thief. Just hang up. Don’t speak. Don’t engage. Hang up and save yourself a lot of grief bit.ly/3UGYmqe

The fair telecoms campaign is still very much in operation. See this news release - fairtelecoms.org.uk/uploads/1/1/4/… - about action expected in the next few days to eliminate further telephone number rip-offs not effectively dealt with as a result of earlier campaigning successes.

After a long period of silence media interest in the campaign is reawakened with an invitation to appear in the first week of broadcasting by @talkTV - tiny.cc/DHonTalkTV. Although many objectives have been achieved, the campaign is still operating.

@Ofcom If only organisations, including HMG, were to comply with, rather than breach, our demand - see twitter.com/fairtelecoms/s…. We already have plenty to be concerned about in being #ScamAware - why make the problem worse by making unsolicited and unexpected calls!

Government breaches fair telecoms campaign guidance on Nuisance Calls. See our demand - "Don’t open the door to scammers and nuisance callers" - fairtelecoms.org.uk/docs.html?dodt. See our news release, covering the contact tracing process -fairtelecoms.org.uk/docs.html?govt…

@Ofcom The very fact that you have to publish this information is proof that the approach being taken is unsafe. We, again, urge compliance with the second of our demands in the campaign to end nuisance calls. - fairtelecoms.org.uk/docs.html?govt…

Hospedia told the BBC they couldn’t cut their 13p a minute cost for incoming calls to hospital patients as they had staff and other fixed costs to pay. @NHSEngland said it was disappointed with the company. However @O2 @VodafoneUK & @EE will cut their access fees.

We celebrate the further issuing of free @truecall call blockers to those most vulnerable to Nuisance Calls. We nonetheless call for the same protection to be available to all those who are vulnerable - i.e. everyone. fairtelecoms.org.uk/docs.html?more…

We secure a change in Welsh government policy, with help from @MC_Alfonso_ . 111 can now be called for free from all of Wales to report potential Coronavirus infections. For some areas however, other calls to the NHS continue to cost up to 67p per minute. fairtelecoms.org.uk/news.html?2003….

@fairtelecoms @TalkTalk @WeAreOpenreach @Ofcom Seems BTOR owns UK BB network & UK ISPs buy capacity off BTOR. BTOR isn’t providing serviceability to TalkTalk & I’m suffering poor reliability as a TalkTalk customer. TT edging bets with charge to me in case BTOR installation faulty in my house that’s been fine for 6 yrs. 🤷🏻‍♂️
