Victor Wembanyama is already operating in a category that modern basketball struggles to properly classify. At 7’4” with perimeter coordination, he is not just a mismatch problem; he is a system disruption. Defensively, he compresses space before possession even stabilises. Offensively, he bends coverages simply by existing above the normal decision-making horizon of defenders. What makes Wembanyama distinct is not only the highlight blocks or the perimeter shot creation, but the speed at which his game is scaling. Most big men develop incrementally in one direction: rim protection or interior scoring or spacing. He is expanding across all three simultaneously, which is structurally rare. If you project him forward, the ceiling conversation becomes less about All-Star or All-NBA tiers and more about whether a single player can anchor both elite offence and defence without requiring structural compromises from the roster. That is historically uncommon even among the greats. There is still development ahead, particularly in strength absorption, decision economy under physical pressure, and late-game shot selection consistency. Those are the margins that typically separate dominance from legacy. But the baseline is already uncomfortable for the league. San Antonio does not simply have a franchise player; they have a gravitational force that forces opponents to redesign their entire half-court approach. The honest framing is this: if his trajectory holds, we are not looking at “best in his position” conversations. We are looking at “how do you game-plan a player who affects every layer of the floor at once?” That is what true dominance looks like before it fully arrives. #NBA #VictorWembanyama #Spurs #Basketball #NBADominance #FutureOfBasketball #NBAPlayoffs @farashade1 @NBA @The_Khalifaa @_JasonLT @stephenasmith @Chris_Broussard @ESPNNBA

@SmartPsychopat1 Spacing on offense becomes and issue though however defensively they would be tough to score on.

@SmartPsychopat1 Sure even you @SmartPsychopat1 know that both players are on two different pedestals. Nash came into his own when he got into Mike D’antoni’s offense while Magic was a pure catalyst on offense. Coupled with the height advantage and versatility Magic had.

@ibukun_dami Would you say both teams erred on the side of caution as against going for it towards the end of the game?

Liverpool F.C. 1-1 Chelsea F.C. Tactical Analysis Thread 🧵 Played at Anfield on May 9th, 2026. This was less about chaos and more about control. Both sides spent long periods trying to manipulate pressing structures rather than simply attacking vertically. It became a positional chess match. Liverpool’s build-up shape was fluid all afternoon. In possession: -The RB tucked inside -One midfielder dropped alongside the CBs -The LW held width aggressively This created: • cleaner progression • central overloads • better rest defense against Chelsea counters Chelsea’s out-of-possession structure was impressive. Without the ball, they alternated between: -a compact 4-4-2 mid-block -an aggressive 4-2-4 press on Liverpool goal kicks The trigger was simple: -once Liverpool played square into midfield, Chelsea jumped aggressively. The key duel was Chelsea’s double pivot against Liverpool’s interior rotations. Liverpool repeatedly tried to create: -third-man combinations -blindside runs from the half-space -under-loads that became overloads after circulation Chelsea’s midfield spacing held up well for most of the game. Liverpool’s biggest threat came from wide isolations. Once they switched play quickly: -the far-side winger attacked 1v1 -the fullback overlapped late -Chelsea’s weak-side winger struggled tracking runners That sequence generated most of Liverpool’s dangerous entries. Chelsea’s attacking plan was much more transition-oriented. They looked dangerous whenever: -they bypassed the first press -attacked the channels quickly -forced Liverpool’s CBs into open-field defending The directness caused problems. One underrated aspect was Chelsea’s use of the striker as a wall passer. Instead of constantly running in behind, he: -received into feet -pinned the CB -bounced passes first time -allowed runners to attack depth It disrupted Liverpool’s pressing rhythm repeatedly. Liverpool equalised because they finally accelerated circulation speed. Earlier in the game, they: -took too many touches - had slow switches -predictable central combinations Later: -faster diagonals -quicker third-man patterns -more aggressive occupation of Zone 14 Chelsea’s block began to stretch. Defensively, Liverpool’s counterpress was still elite in moments. Immediately after losing possession: -nearest 3 players collapsed centrally -passing lanes were locked -Chelsea were forced wide But Chelsea escaped several times through vertical outlet passes. Chelsea deserve credit for their compactness between lines. Their distances were excellent: -CB to midfield line stayed tight -wingers tucked in intelligently -half-spaces were protected Liverpool had possession but not sustained central penetration. Game management became huge in the final phase. Liverpool pushed numbers higher: -fullbacks advanced simultaneously -CBs defended huge spaces -midfielders counterpressed aggressively Chelsea accepted territory and played for transition moments. Ultimately, 1-1 felt fair. Liverpool controlled larger phases. Chelsea controlled key moments. One side dominated territory. The other dominated transition threat. A proper high-level tactical battle at Anfield. #LIVCHE #Liverpool #Chelsea #PremierLeague #Anfield #TacticalAnalysis @premierleague @PremLeaguePanel @Edwyeen @dayveedtalks @Ademola_Host @Okkeeeyy @ChelseaFC @LFC @Adikastakes @keepIT_tactical @TotalAnalysis @SportsCenter @SkySportsPL

"Lacks technical brilliance of Oliseh and Dembele…". Whoever said this needs his head checked. I've given myself a few more years, then I'll quit talking football. Permanently. On a professional level. Nothing makes sense anymore.

Kylian Mbappe has been told he lacks the technical brilliance of Michael Olise and Ousmane Dembele as questions arise over his suitability as France’s primary leader 🤔🇫🇷 goal.com/en/lists/franc…

PSG 5-4 Bayern Munich – Tactical Thread 1. A game of extreme attacking symmetry This wasn’t just open, it was mutually permissive. Both sides are among the highest scorers in the competition and thrive on high turnovers. (1)x.com/i/status/20493…

Jose Mourinho's disciples will manage “big clubs” more than Pep's disciplines will. There is a big difference in their philosophy and it will be disastrous when one of Pep's folk manages Real Madrid for instance. I want to actually see them (Jose's disciples) more in the game.

@dayveedtalks @ibukun_dami Well said David. At some point it felt like they through Caution to the wind and went all out. I also feel one team was more clinical than the other. PSG was ruthless when they had their chances and Bayern let some good chances go to waste.

Our prediction today will be different. Due to the fact that nobody won last week, I want to make it easier. Winner gets £15. You have to predict at least one goalscorer in each of these games. Just one goalscorer each. Chelsea v PSG Man City v Real Madrid Arsenal v Leverkusen As usual, If you win, and you don't want the money, you can ask me to give someone else that you choose. Let’s just have fun. It’s not worth cheating, no usage of burner accounts or multiple predictions please, not worth it.

Wemby affects the game in ways that cannot be quantified on the basketball court. Everyone around him seems to plays with more energy on defence because of him and his ability to correct mistakes on defensive side.

I don't think Arsenal should panic. They've been the best team in England by a significant margin. What's important is they maintain this lead (or increase it) in anticipation of City clash. In a one-off, I fancy them against City.
