@kirancodes It seems insanely slow and unreliable to me. How can I use it during the class, if I have to wait and revalidate results constantly?

I bought a $1200 laptop shipped with Windows. Installed Ubuntu 26.04LTS. Bluetooth doesn't work on Linux, although it works on Windows on the very same machine. Checked the driver, buggy. I have to patch the driver from the source tree. With the story above, you tell me "Linux desktop is rising"? It is 2026, and a decent Linux Distro cannot even deal with bluetooth.

@_FreeMarketMind @realBigBrainAI _FreeMarketMind Der DGX Station (GB300, ~748 GB unified Memory) kostet bei Partnern wie MSI ca. 85.000–100.000 USD. NVIDIA listet keinen offiziellen Preis – reines Enterprise-Produkt. Der kleinere DGX Spark mit 128 GB liegt bei ~4.700 USD.

I need to ask about gas prices. I paid $3.27 a gallon at Buc-ee’s. Is that considered a good price? For a comparison I’ve worked out the average price back home in the UK is $7.24 a gallon…

@kimmonismus Enterprise plans are routinely priced far above standard plans. Nobody looks at GitHub Enterprise costing much more than GitHub Pro and concludes that GitHub Pro must therefore be subsidized

@kimmonismus No. What you’re citing is the price AI companies charge, not their actual cost. The real cost per token is not publicly disclosed

Subscription plans are massively subsidized. And by massively, I mean absurdly: Claude Max 20x: $200/month, with usage reportedly worth around $8,000 ChatGPT Pro 20x: $200/month, with usage reportedly worth around $14,000

Recently, we purchased one of each Anthropic/OpenAI subscription plan and randomly ran long horizon coding tasks until we exhausted the weekly limit. It's widely believed that a $200/month plan maxes out at ~$2000/month worth of tokens (assuming API pricing). However, we found that the subscriptions are actually far more generous. (2/4)

@BoganBits @LowLevelTweets @geerlingguy Yes, the firewall is still the main line of defense — but with IPv6, it becomes the only line of defense. That raises the stakes significantly 4/4

@BoganBits @LowLevelTweets @geerlingguy For example, I want to expose my Minecraft server - but I definitely don’t want anyone to even know my Jellyfin instance exists, let alone access its very private home videos. 3/x

Today I disabled IPv6 on my home router entirely. There are (sadly) too many devices and services with obscure bugs when it's enabled, and I'm tired of playing whack-a-mole sysadmin just to keep a full IPv6 stack. I'm not sure we'll ever see full IPv6 adoption.

What's better than writing a book about GC? Writing a GC! I am excited to share that I've joined Microsoft as Principal Software Engineer, to work on the evolution of the .NET Garbage Collector and in general the future of the .NET runtime. Stay tuned for much more! After my two-year detour into agentic AI, and my deep .NET background, I find it a perfect match for today's evolution of .NET and serving heavy AI workloads. The intersection of AI with low-level programming and hardware-aware algorithms is a great place to be. Not to mention AI-assisted work and engineering is already deep in my heart. #dotnet 💜

@davepl1968 The problem was never microcontrollers. It’s the cloud crap, subscriptions, telemetry, and proprietary ecosystems that make basic features worse than a carburetor from 1978. GM killing CarPlay/Android Auto to lock users into their own platform is exactly why people say this stuff

Have you taken apart and recurved a dual advance distributor? Have you looked inside a Quadrajet carburetor? One time, in the Old Testament, Moses rebuilds one, and even he has a few parts left over. You'd be crying for your microcontroller in about 3 minutes.
