I made this argument a few years back - I called them the “second tier cities” - and I’m glad to see it’s reaching a wider audience These cities mostly avoid the governance problems that seem to plague the major US cities and their amenities now (largely) rival the super stars Unless you need a very specific career, you can do very well basically anywhere now in the US

Never said that everything deliberate is red. I think we agree that some deliberate fouls are not red cards. Deliberately kicking an opponent is red. Deliberately tackling a player from behind with no attempt at the ball is a red. That's how people get hurt. There's a chance the laws changed when I wasn't looking... seems to happen more frequently these days 🤣 But the reality is that this isn't the 1980's anymore... or even the '90's. Deliberately talking a player from behind with no attempt to get the ball is a red card. @stuholden, whom I like and admire, disagrees with me... and frankly, that's the probably the best argument for your case.

@benhubbard @tommythistle @stuholden There are plenty of deliberate fouls that are not red cards though. Any form of holding or pushing there is no attempt to play the ball, it's deliberate, and (on its own) never a red. You can deliberately trip someone with it being red.
